I'm the coach

Doesn’t KSU have one of the best D-lines in the country? If so, we are going to HAVE to open it up.

Call Escort-Ireland and have Erin Go Braghless in the Wildcat locker room at halftime.

Clones beat the spread.

All puns intended.

Dude, this is an Internet forum. The whole point is to ***** about what the team and coaches do wrong. Even if someone laid out the perfect game plan how would we know if it would work? I’m so confused by what you’re asking.

After nearly 30 posts, it’s obvious that some people are more confused than others

Heacock usually doesn't crank up the defense until the 2nd half, maybe the last two series or so of the 1st half.

I'd guess part of it is to not show too much but also seeing what sorts if different things the opponent has vs. film etc.

So expect an early TD from KSU.
This is not a typical opening game. Rather, it's the most important conference game of the season, so forget about the 'don't show too much on offense' philosophy.

Also, Heacock doesn't want to give up the usual early points as KState is a front runner team. If you give them the lead early, good luck getting it back.

I'm not talking about an early game.

It's usually how he operates in about any game and a trend through many seasons is to give up early scores.

The corner/safety stunts and blitzes, etc. don't usually come along until later in the game, maybe late first half.

Has nothing to do with who ISU is playing or when.

Also how is KSU a front runner in Week 0?

It's the first game of the season got a keep it vanilla so the better team next week doesn't see what this new team's strengths are and can adapt and be prepared.

You're concerned about revealing too much to USD?

I hate sideline screens, but if KSU is strong in the middle and has inexperienced DBs, maybe it’s worth a shot?

Our DC wants to maintain the pass rushing lanes and not get blitz happy on defense.

I would not rely on the read option. Maybe a pitch out or a check down flare pass would help spread out their defenders.

Occasional play action flag route would be good to test their deep coverage.

Seems every game we have posters on here that know more than the coaches seem to. "why three straight runs up the middle?", "why didn't we air it out?", "I would have....." etc.
Any takers on here want to draw up a game plan for beating K State before the game, rather than second-guessing a play call after it fails?

I'm in the camp that more often than not, a player fails rather than a play. I will admit that I don't know the game, the team, nor the opposition well enough to write the script to win this thing so I put my faith in the coaches to do their job. If we lose, I'll attribute it to a bad break or two, stupid penalties on our part or yes, getting beat by a better team, but I can't outcoach a coach.

Not that it will be followed, but anybody want to scheme this win into existence before the game? If not, I'm sure I will find out after what should have been done

People do that in every aspect of society (that they don't do for a living).
