I'm convinced.

You honestly don't think a good D II could score at least two touchdowns on this year's D?

How did UNI do? That's the closest comparison we have. Lets not get carried away, we just played two top 3 offenses in back to back games. TCU basically got their average against us, nothing more.

Let's face it, our problem is offense. When you play teams that average over 50 points per game the only way to win is to keep pace with their scoring. Our defense played fairly good all game. I never see the front three fail to put on a rush. How about some blitzs, how about not giving the receiver a cushion? How about turning around to see where the ball is and knocking some down. How about not blowing coverage and leaving receivers wide open. It put this loss on quarterback and defensive backs. If Wally can't design a system to put a rush on quarterback, hire someone that can. I am tired of not getting to the quarterback and giving them all the time in the world to throw a completion. And I don't think the problem is the three down linemen. They need some surprise held once in a while.

...Do you mean FCS? Because we've held a solid FCS team to 7 and a terrible FBS team to 13. A good MAC team scored 23 in regulation. So I fully believe we could hold a good DII team to one or no TD's.

With scoring drives in regulation of 37 and 0 yards.

Defense held Kansas to 6 points for the record. ISU defense isn't any good but they absolutely shut out a DII team.
Its the stupid argument of "could Kentucky beat an NBA team?!?!?"

And if you look at how d II teams do against fcs teams, in most cases they're having trouble getting to 21 points. I think it's be possible a great d II could get a field goal or two but I doubt they'd even get one touchdown much less 2 or more

My guess is our current four linebackers are not AJ Klein or Jake Knott at 250 pounds.

Our problem is 60 minutes of good play from our qb position. I gave this a break for years, but in comparing their qb to our qb, we do not make the plays. Sad screen passes that drop too low, passes behind the receivers, and soft tosses that fly high over the receiver is not what you call a full rounded passer. Now Paul and Mark do not let the qb run. So no threat from the qb to help Mike. None. One zone reader keeper in the fourth quarter is inadequate, Mark.

It is very risky to blitz a properly-executed spread offense. I thought we were putting more pressure on Boykin than we did against Tech. The game was 24 to 21 at half. Our offense did nothing and eventually the defense got tired/discouraged. ISU simply doesn't have the athletes to pressure Air Raid offenses with top athletes.

So do we need to reissue the football "Forever One" posters to be "Forever Two" (victories)?

No, it's not. Kansas is ranked 125th in Jeff Sagarin's ratings, and there are 19 D-1aa teams ranked higher than them. Kansas is an absolutely terrible team and shouldn't be playing d-1a competition this year. Stupid to compare us against them this year.

Yes it is. Our defense held Kansas to six points. Kansas is vastly better than any D II team. Our defense would shut down a D II team

Ok................how many points did a MAC team score on them a few weeks back?

A MAC team who also beat Arkansas who is also ranked. How many did a Big 12 team score in our first Big 12 game? It could have/should have been 0 had it not been for a pick 6 and a late TD when our backups were in.
