Hy-Vee Big 4 Classic Ending

I'ma gonna go ahead and call BS on this. You were 4 rows up and heard all of these things, any of which would have gotten him fined? And nobody did a thing about it? He got tossed because he threw temper tantrums.

I've been off the Fran wagon for a while now, but there is no way this is true.

Fined?

I know this is basketball and more of a rough-and-tumble business, but if I ever referred to a colleague, boss, client, subordinate, or regulator in those ways, or if I had ever referred to a student like that when I was teaching at ISU, I would have been (rightfully) fired a moment later. Why in the world does anybody want to play for that guy? What a petty ****.
You should have heard the things that came out of Johnny's mouth. Different times, but he still made 70 year old men sitting across from him blush.

If he was that vulgar, that often, and loud enough for someone in the 4th row to hear him? Sure he would.

By who? The bigten is only going to fine a coach for conference games. The NCAA doesn't care. Only way this gets punished is if this became a media deal and then maybe Barta does something, but still doubtful.

You're off on this one. He got tossed for saying it but would never get a fine or reprimanded for something like that. There are a lot of things said on the bench during games

I know Johnny could curse like the old Navy sailor that he was, but was anything he said really as absolutely mean-spirited as the stuff Fran says?

Maybe that is the nostalgia of time and cardinal and gold glasses, but I've always interpreted Johnny's saltiness as colorful and somewhat comic.

"Gawdamnit, Lafester!" is a little different than calling somebody those other things.

Former players of Johnny's, including Fred, always spoke highly of him and seemed to crack a smile when you brought up the language. Maybe that is time again, but I have never heard of an ex-Iowa player seeming to miss him much.

Our guys seem to miss Fred and Prohm quite a bit.

I remember being in the upper deck in later Eustachy years and hearing language that would curl your hair from him.

Johnny really got on Elmer Robinson. Can only imagine what he said to him in the locker room.

Dana Altman is another guy that says things that would make a sailor blush.

Also, refs aren't exactly saints talking back to coaches at times either. It's just how it works, you just can't cross the line into overly personal. As soon as you put the word 'You' in front of what you're saying is when coaches get rung.

I think Johnny saw Elmer as the key to those teams. Others on the team played better or worse but generally played up to their abilities. If he could just get Elmer to consistently play to his athletic ability and talents he thought they could take the next step. Unfortunately Elmer was very inconsistent.

I think playing Drake @ Wells Fargo would be cool, but **** going to Cedar Falls. Suck it, purple haks.

Why in the hell do we want to play the Purple Haks er Pukes???

I would much rather play Drake home and home than those junior ChokeEyes and their Choke first Purple Puke 2nd fans anyway......
