I'm not convinced you can take anything away from the OU result other than Oklahoma still has a lot of that signature Lincoln Riley softness to them, and they thought they could just show up and turn it on if and when they needed to. It's not something new IMO opinion out of OU.

Which makes the move to the SEC all the more dumb, but explainable given their front running arrogant attitude. They made a deal with the devil when they hired an offensive wizard that stripped them of their toughness, and they are a very long time removed from the OU defensive days. It's not fixed and the SEC is a terrible place to try and fix it on the go.
I don't feel one bit sorry for them. Eff them.

You haven't watched OU this season. Their defense is actually really fast and physical. But their offense has been a complete disaster. No QB, bad OL, receivers are hurt, no TE threat. I suspect that's what kept Houston in the game.

Based on scores they seem like Arkansas st. Close game with Oklahoma (Michigan) blow out by Cincinnati ( us) the difference being i think the ASU match ups were v. better teams.

Listen, I won't sit here and say we're going to win by 50 or anything like that, but we should blow Houston out of the water on Saturday. Predicting a score, give me 38-17 Good Guys with Houston scoring early in the game and then late when it doesn't matter.

Against teams not named Rice, they've scored 19 combined points. Total, they have 6 offensive TD's. They do not take care of the ball well which bodes very well for us. Through 4 games, they've fumbled the ball 6 times (lost 3 of them) and have thrown 4 interceptions. The TDs that they have had this year have almost all been big/broken plays.

If we just play a solid game, we win handily. How things get dicey is if we have some bad turnovers and give up some really big TDs.

I was pleased that we ran our offense all game against ASU. We tend to score big when the running game is going. I’m loving our rotation of RBs right now.

I have to wonder what kind of confidence UH has inside their locker room right now.
Me too but hope we make quicker adjustments if the run game does nothing early. When the running game starts off bad, like most of last year except the end (BYU, K State), we keep trying - and failing. "Bound to soften them up" doesn't apply to us. We usually waited until 2nd half, way too late, to start exclusively throwing.

You are correct in your assessment of their team. I have watched them some. Their offense is a disaster and that's likely not doing their defense any favors. Your point is well taken.

I would just say that I would hope they could outperform Cincy's defense in any circumstance any day of the week with respect to their respective games against Houston.

It doesn't hurt my feelings at all to see OU struggle with a Big 12 bottom feeder who follows up this effort by getting blown out by what is almost certain to be a bottom half big 12 team. Transitive property be da**ed

Yet in the end it was.

Our UL game wasn't as lopsided as It ended either but it didn't stop Rece Davis from spewing his crap.
ISU got beat at home by three scores by a Sun belt team yet was in playoff contention. We’d be destroying a big 10 or SEC team in that situation too.

There was a lot of weirdness in the game due to Covid and injuries but it was kind of on ass kicking. UL dominated special teams. They dominated our passing game. 4.1 yards per pass attempt and two picks. That’s a defense kicking your ass.

ISU was horrendous that game.

Son-in-Law is a Houston grad, says when Holgersen saw the writing on the wall, he stopped recruiting. When Fritz signed on, they only had 27 scholarship players left on campus, many of their best players had transferred. So t
Fritz got a team out of 2 stars (recruits that were still on the board) and the transfer portal. Thinks they will be competitive in 2 years, maybe! But then a lot of them are Texas HS 2 stars.

We were barely able to practice before the game. UL was ready to go.
