Yeah I get really sick of the whole "we can't treat these these guys lightly or they're going to embarrass us". What do you mean I can't treat these guys lightly? I'M not playing the game.
And I get sick of fans who, ignoring the fact that major upsets happen EVERY week in college football, declare Iowa State's next game should be an automatic win. Then they scream bloody murder when Iowa State is upset.

There are no automatic wins in college football. Just ask Notre Dame.

The experts in Vegas have made Iowa State a 12.5 point favorite over Houston which makes us a solid favorite, but far bigger favorites are upset every weekend.

Clear favorite is not equal to automatic win, so don't be critical of fans who realize that.

It’s gonna take time for them to be better under this coach but Houston has a lot of potential if the right coach can unlock it. I’m happy they joined, especially on the basketball side.

I felt the same about UCF. And now in year 2 they are the second best team in Florida. Top 2 in Texas might be a stretch, but if they can consistently be that 3rd team in the state that’ll be big. TCU, Baylor, and Taco Tech are nice to have successful, but the size and reach of Houston would go a lot further for TV networks if they were good.

I love having them in hoops, but they have to be the least interesting football addition and I don’t think it’s all that close.

It would help if they had more of a fanbase

And we'll see in hoops long term.

Their fans act as if they had consecutive sellouts from Phi Slamma Jamma straight until this recent dominant run. In reality I'm sure they had some incredibly empty years given they don't even have broad football fan support.

I'm guessing they're no different than any other Texas program we've had in the league (Baylor, A&M, UT, Tech, TCU), decent support when bball is really winning, hardly any in average and bad years.

It is what it is though and if we hadn't added them to grow the conference larger I'm sure the ACC would have Houston, UCF and Cincy in it already if not BYU. It was the right call.

We are also going to be there. I think i overpaid for some really good seats and haven't figured out parking just yet.

Glad it's the night game, for the weather!

I admire their confidence?
every single message board I've seen has had confidence....albeit there are a lot more less confident UH fans than confident....but you would look at the Arkansas State board and think they are Georgia fans the way they were propping up a potential upset......it's weird to say as an Iowa State fan but I never feared playing Arkansas State lol.

I trust CMC and the guys to be ready for UH and not have a letdown here. There's so much to play for....how would you not be locked in?

Go Cyclones!

Not scared, just more like "dont step on your own ****". Like KSU just did...

Every team is susceptible to a bad day. Elite teams have enough margin to win even on the bad days against good teams.
This....I think most people expected Georgia to dominate Kentucky and they won by a point.....Bama was in a tight contest with USF until like halfway through the 4th quarter.....every team has bad games.....let's just hope this isn't one of them

Adversity will happen at any moment.... for every team. Good teams find a way to overcome it. Here's hoping ISU will be one of those good teams to escape a loss on a tough day.

I think ISU will kick the **** out of Houston on Saturday and the win by at least two touchdowns. This is not a good or even decent UH team, while I think this ISU team has turned the corner, and will be a very dangerous team to play the rest of the year. The players after the win over EIU now believe in themselves, this past Saturday they looked like a well oiled machine, I see nothing in Houston that is going to make that any different this Saturday.
