Up to JP to find a new coach to make potentials take a second look. I think this is why we can't go small cheep. The opportunity is huge here and may not come again.

Agree, we have to swing for the fence. These opportunities are just not frequent enough for ISU.

Hoiberg 2015: Fulfilling a dream while crushing the dreams of a million people who love you.
Careful here. I been here thinking about MB, DW, and CD, but we wouldn't be here without him. Can't have the good without the bad. Feels like going through a divorce. Hate the ex wife, but love the kids.

Between this and Wojnarowski's article this morning, anyone holding out hope Fred will return should abandon ship at this point.

Time to move on and find the best possible coach we can.

There is only one piece of news I am looking to see today: confirmed reports that Pollard was sighted in Phoenix backing up a U-Haul full of money in front of Jeff Hornacek's home.

Very true. And just because you are a good head coach (see McDermott), it doesn't mean you can succeed at Iowa State. There is going to be an element of risk in any choice. My number 1 choice by far is Hornacek, who is as close to a no brainer as you can get. I'd personally pay $100 more for my corner tickets to see this ride continue, and Hornacek is a guy who could undoubtedly make it happen. But, if Jeff doesn't want to coach here, and Jamie isn't looking to spend $2-3 million for a splash hire, then we are left with mid-major coaches which bring their own sort of risk (see McDermott).

I think JP has to be thinking big here... a $2-3 million splash hire is what the program needs but more importantly what it deserves. The program is in good shape, the past 4 years have been successful, it's poised to have one of the best seasons in school history potentially this coming season if things fall into place, and with the right hire combined with a potential record season upcoming the nearly empty roster for 2016-2017 could be filled with some talented recruits.

Now is not the time for JP to be shopping for bargain priced coaches at Goodwill.... he needs to go big here.
