Hilton Noob Question

They bump us we fall down, nice steal. We bump them well thats a foul.

Cyclone Alley (student section) usually tacks on "you suck!" after the claps.

That tradition pre-dates Cyclone Alley by quite a bit. Based on how established it was my freshman year (shortly after students moved in via covered wagon), I’m confident in saying it goes back at least to the Floyd era.

Any old timers here? I had an old timer (school in the late 60s/early 70s) said the 5 claps came from the wrestling program somehow. Like if the opposing wrestler scored points or won their match they would clap politely 5 times. Seemed like they didn't have to do it much at the time.

I could be dead wrong. Just what I vaguely remembered.

I still remember the ISU student who won 25 yards (or some number don't remember the exact amount) of concrete in the shoot 5 for 5. That's something every college student can use.
Yeah, I'm surprised that didn't end up on the front door of Beardshear. Back in the day when everyone had to stand in endless Beardshear lines to register for their classes it was the most hated place on campus.

I started at ISU in first half of the Orr era. The tradition then was just the claps and dead silence before and after. It had to be eerie for the visiting players.

Im new to basketball games and haven’t picked up on some of the crowd traditions quite yet. Can someone tell me during the opposing team’s introductions what the clapping thing is. Is it like 5 claps or something. I havent picked up on it yet.
If you're struggling with the five claps during introductions, not even going to touch the pep band during free throws.
