Hilton Noob Question

The “left right left right” thing when people foul out is hilarious. Has any opposing player ever tried to mess with us on that one like by jumping or fake sitting?

Hilarious? I guess our senses of humor are different.

If I were the opposing player, because fouling out is often followed by free throws, I'd sit down as the shooter is about to shoot the free throw. Either the students yell during their player's free throw, or they miss their moment to yell "sit down".

Edit: I see DarkStar beat me to the thought.

...the clapping thing is. Is it like 5 claps or something. I havent picked up on it yet.

The five clap thing goes way back before Hilton to when the team played in the old Armory building on campus. Have no idea when it started but it has a long history.

That tradition pre-dates Cyclone Alley by quite a bit. Based on how established it was my freshman year (shortly after students moved in via covered wagon), I’m confident in saying it goes back at least to the Floyd era.

I was done as a student but had Parquet tix for the Floyd and Eustachy eras and I don't remember it. I don't think it came along until at least the McDoormat era, when WE started to suck.

Things I miss....

"Hi Everybody!" - " Hi Ed!"

"Sit down Norm!"

"Sit down Roy!"

Ed was awesome. You knew it was a big game when he came out and did his bit on a unicycle. I was there (Kansas game??) the day the guy hit all 5. I think it only happened once.

Don't forget "Sit down Billy!" Tubbs was as hated as any of them. The Big 8 coaches, including Johnny, had a ton of umm, personality.

My favorite thing was the gator chomp done at the beginning of the 2nd half back in the day.

I loved Hamm's Beer song thing. Then it got watered down and eventually went away.

The band had some good ones at the end of blowouts. "It just doesn't matter!" to an opponent shooting ft's, or the "Start the Bus!" chant.

And BYU is still pissed about it. JP said it was brought up when talking to them about joining the conference.
They'll get over it. As @ImJustKCClone said, mightta/coulda been something said (100% chance) to Ejim, so turn-around is fair play as they say.

It's 1 clap for every vowel in players last name.
Obviously my joke went right over some peoples heads lol
As long as the other team doesn’t have a guy named Christodoulopoulos I feel like I could keep up with that though.
Too much math. Must save for engineering classes.

With Iowa down ten and one minute to go it's "start the bus".
Like this Thursday? :)

I think WBB is the only sport where they'd have to make changes to avoid Sundays for BYU, right?

The Big 12 hasn't had Sunday MBB or VB games for forever.

In addition to softball/baseball...

Soccer plays conference matches on Thu/Sun or Fri/Sun.
Tennis is normally Fri/Sun in league play.
Gymnastics usually has a Sunday conference dual in there somewhere.

The Hamm's Beer song was great! It really got the crowd going, but I think if fell victim to the PC police.
When did that go away? As a student I wasn't really sure what our fight song actually was between the "Hamm's" song, the "Don't Know the Words" song, and the actually fight song as they were all played regularly. :p
