Doesn't running in boxers cause you chaffing problems?
It doesn't. I've ran several marathons and loads of halves in them and fine. I have to use Body Glide for my chest though. I ran a 5k in -2 degree weather like 10 years ago and came across the same issue. It wasn't good for anyone.... lol

6'2" 188 lbs here. Was 205 at the start of quarantine. Went from a 34x34 jean to a 32x34 jeans and all of my large shirts fit much losser than before. Medium tall is now the best fit for my long arms. However I don't have a ton of upper body muscle mass.
I bought some 34x34 but they are still a bit too tight. 6'2" 199

I started a bulking cycle back in October. I got about 4 weeks in and was feeling/seeing some gains. However, when cases started to spike in Nov, I shut it down and haven't been back. I'm staying away until the holidays are over so I minimize COVID risk to other family members during that time.

Planning to start up again right after Christmas and going at 5am to stay away from others. Hoping that gets me through safely since things are trending in a positive direction in our area right now. Plan is for a 10 week bulk followed by a 10 week cut. Hoping to put on some real muscle mass in 2021!

Does anyone have experience with desk/sitting ellipticals?

I bought one for my pops just for something simple to do but they actually look intriguing.

I started daily 'fasting' in that my main goal is done with my main meal by 6 PM. Might still have an apple or banana but may try to even wean off of that.

No sudden results but I tend to feel better in the morning.

I use these too along with some old ass Nike running tights that have some thickness.

My main thing is cold hands. Got some running gloves to help, but I generally don't run if it's under 40. Because cold weather sucks and I don't want to be out in it.

I generally agree, but if it's warm-ish and snowing, I can't help myself. I love going for a run in a snowstorm. Bright clothing is important, though.

I'm normally on the same page. With covid and not being able to hang out with friends and family, I've just been sitting at home drinking Busch Light and whiskey. Needed a goal so cold running it is lol

Nothing is better for my mental health than a run....and I'll put quotes around "run".

A plodding jog is about my speed. 9-10 minute splits on a normal day. The bright spot being that I'm at or better the pace I ran at 25 years ago.

....but that cold.....yuck

I've put on a few COVID lbs and have decided to train for a marathon over the winter. I was running yesterday in 24 degree weather and my bird was freezing. I run in sweat pants and boxers. Are there any reasonably priced products or suggestions to help my my little dude to not be so cold? Especially on longer runs.

I used to line the front of running brief's with a piece of cotton terry cloth cut from an old sock. Worked well to avoid the chilly Johnson thingie.

Haven't been to gym since March. Would usually weigh myself there and take a look to see how awful my old senior citizen bod looked. Basically eye test, clothes fit test backed up by the pounds thing. Got weighed at doctor office the other day and was thinking, am I wearing that many clothes? Bought a scale, never owned one before, and see I gained 11 pounds since last December. Might not sound like much to you big guys but 11 pounds on a guy built like a 10K runner is quit a bit. It's the most I've ever weighed. Guess daily walkabouts aren't doing much and I've been stuck at home alone and eating too much evening food because bored as ****. Well, and drinks with that food so not a good combo. Going to have to make some changes here for remainder of winter and next spring since I probably won't be able to get back into gym till summer when vaccines are likely available to me and by than I'll be out biking again.

Any one in particular? I've been trying to motivate myself with a marathon for some time now - but too much uncertainty on which races will exist or not - not sure i want to get in a difficult training program only to see a race canceled.

I'm going to do it on my own. Thinking about downloading MapMyRun or some app like that so it is accurate. Thinking I'll start in West Waukee and end up around Grays Lake or Water Works in Des Moines. Go put water bottles in a few spots in the woods the night before.

Totally get not wanting to sign up for a race to be cancelled. I've always heard Mothers in Duluth is a really fun race. If you are from Iowa, the Des Moines Marathon is a good one in October. Only 1 bad hill. And you get to train in nice weather.

Couldn't you just end up where you started? :)

Couldn't resist--reminded me of The Office when Michael put on a 'Rabies' 5K and had the finish 3 miles away from the start instead of just making it a loop.

Yeah i've done DSM half a few time when used to live there, but never the full. Been trying to work myself to that level (run another half this spring and full early summer).

Going to look pretty hard at Duluth - given June date it should be late enough to avoid covid. Not a fan of a fall race as my training would be in Kansas City and not ideal to be doing long runs in July/Aug.

I have been using an app called Fitbod for the last 6 months and it has been fantastic. It curates a warmup, weightlifting exercises, and cardio for each workout day. you can choose all of the equipment you have at your disposal and rate how much exertion you put into an exercise so that it adjusts and raises weights as you continue to workout. I would definitely recommend at least trying a three-day trial of it

For those considering winter running, I got a pair of these last year and they are nice:

I was originally worried about the spikes hurting my feet when on dry pavement, but I don't notice them at all. I've run in them a handful of times and they served me well, especially on ice. I'm not sure how fast they would wear down if you were running with them multiple times a week, but I believe the spikes are replaceable.

About 15 years ago I tried running for a while. What I would do is run until I couldn't stand it any more. Then I would push myself another 30 minutes. That way I got in about a 31 minute run.
I hated every minute of it and have no idea how anyone could enjoy running. My sister runs probably 10-15 miles a day.

You got it! You will hit bumps, just keep going! Tag me if you want to hold each other accountable. I just did a 6.2 mile run for my long run today.
