HBO's Silicon Valley

Out of gas. :(

Yeah, through two episodes it's feeling a bit stale. I don't think it's the absence of TJ Miller. I think it's more the absence of good tertiary characters - right now there's no Russ Hanneman or (I forget the character's name) the disbarred lawyer who works at a car wash to liven up some of the scenes.

And yeah, the cyclical feel of the show gets old too. I know that the whole struggle/almost succeed/almost fail spectacularly/barely survive/struggle cycle is intentional, but at some point something has to happen.

Kinda my take. It's gotten to rinse and repeat. Not sure we need another full season of puking/panic Richard and feuding Dinesh and Gilfoyle. Hell throw us a bone and let Dinesh win once and throw Gilfoyle into an identity crisis or something.

First episode was okay. Second episode was just dumb. Should have ended it after last season.

I actually think the changes will make this show less stale. They were in a rut but seem to be moving in a new direction.

However, we're seeing way too much of Jian yang. He works well as a foil to erlich, but at this point im hoping that we see less of him now that he's kicked them out of the house.

It does bother me that theyve reverted Richard to being weak **** again. This is the guy who was face to face with Gavin Belson to end last season, saying 'bring it'. And now he can't stand up to a couple of his own new hires.

Or introduce some fresh blood to the cast. I had thought that TJ Miller leaving the show was a perfect opportunity for someone to step in as Erlich's next of kin and make a claim on Pied Piper (my ideal casting? Kevin Kline as Erlich's estranged father). But it doesn't look like that's going to happen. The whole subplot with Jian Yang trying to gain control over his estate isn't doing it for me.

I really think this has the set up of a solid season. I agree episode 2 was not good, but I think they have a nice set up, storyline wise, so far.

It is alike their previous issues, but not entirely, and they are not handling them the same way (they seem to be getting smart about it, imo)

The Danesh as the "glaring weakness" in the company is a funny storyline to me, but the Mole can't go on too much longer.

The one thing that has annoyed me about this season is Richards sudden change of personality when dealing with other people/companies. This whole season he has been assertive and out there and not afraid to do something risky for his business, whether good or bad. But then they expect me to think that he is still this person who *****, pukes and hurls himself through a plate glass window because he cant talk in front of 50 people? That has been annoying to me. If they want to make him assertive, that is great, but make it the progression throughout, not just in business ventures. Obviously he still has to have some of that Richard in him, so they won't fully go away from it, but wish they would have smoothed it out a little more.

I still love the show. Still hilarious in all the ways that my non-technical wife doesn't understand.

However, it's getting a little harder to watch them **** the bed over and over again. It's still funny, but any time ANYTHING good happens you just know they are going to **** it up almost immediately.

I'm going to keep watching because it is one of the few shows I get to watch by myself because my wife doesn't get it. But I think they should build up a little bit before dicking it up yet again.

There hasn't been a **** up yet, maybe a couple hiccups, but they handled them with ease (and smarts) for the most part. Which is a change from previous seasons.

They didn't hire engineers quickly enough and got them all hired up by Hooli. Then Richard tried to low ball the other engineers, got caught, and had to hire SliceLine guys as well. Then Richard alienated himself from the engineers, but sort of redeemed himself as well.
And from the preview of the next episode, Pakistani Denzel is going to tell the mole something he really shouldn't.

Personally, I just wish these guys could do a few things right every now and then, because I like them. And if they're going to do something illegal or unethical... don't TELL ANYONE!

Hopefully it turns out that the guys can handle some of these snags better this season. Hopefully.

I get what you're saying, but I also think their **** ups are warranted, for the storyline, in the world of tech. I don't claim to know about daily Silicon Valley happenings, but have a cousin who works for a StartUp out there (who watches the show) and she says a lot of the little quirks that they run into, whether that is legally, personally, or publicly, you hear about happening all the time.

All I'm saying is, if any of those things were to have happened to them in Season 1 or 2, they would take 3+ episodes to figure out the root cause/or best way to go about it and then finally act, after the damage was essentially done. Where as, these problems this season have arisen and been resolved in an efficient manner comparatively, and as efficiently as you could hope for (if you are acting as if this is a real company). But that is just my perception of what they've done so far, and could definitely be wrong by the end of the season haha.

Another A+ episode from Jared. "Worst case the john gets a free peek."

Jared's really the only thing left. I've found myself skipping over this show on the DVR which isn't good. I don't even skip over TWD yet. I like Jin Yang here and there and everyone else has a rare moment but it just seems to revert to the same things over and over, as others have noted.
