He'll need the work here shortly. Anyone watch his stand up? Let's just say he's not going to be confused for Louis CK. Woof. Awful.

Yeah, his stand up special on HBO was cringe worthy. He's got a good niche, though.

Ha yeah on the Gilfoyle character that one blew my mind at first as well when I figured it out. Dude crushes it in everything he is in, he's great.

Im sure part of TJ is unfiltered and a little off kilter but there must be some truth in there as well. I do hope they scale back on Thomas M. in the future. There has to be ways they can incorporate him with out him being as active on the show as he's been.

Also, if you ever see Jimmy O. Yang's stand up (Jin Yang) his voice actually sounds a lot like Chris Rock.

Eh. His standup was what he wanted, in this time of discourse in America and he has said as much. Was it the funniest? God no, but what more did you expect from TJ Miller.

Given that he has Walden, Ready Player One, Deadpool 2, Underwater, and How To Train Your Dragon on his docket in the next 2 years, on top of The Emoji Movie, I think he will be fine.

In his "Exit Interview" that recently got released. He very clearly stated he would not ever come back. He and Alec Berg we're butting heads constantly.

If you want to have a good read, I suggest the "exit interview" with TJ Miller as he is very honest in his thoughts. He hints that Thomas Middleton seems to be really wanting to be the star, and it put their relationship at a strain because TM thought Tj Miller was trying to overshadow him with his character. The whole interview is a very interesting read, and very erlich-esque if you ask me. I gained some respect for TJ after reading it, but at the same time he is a very hard headed person hahah.

He really doesn't shy away from telling everyone about how much mediocre, at best, work he has does he? Kramer was a good comparison though. Not a big deal outside of that one show.

I'll concede that I haven't seen everything he's in or have paid attention to stuff he's going to be in but is it a niche or is he just a bit actor. Everywhere I see him he's just kind of an abrasive **** that thinks far higher of themselves that they are in the given plot. When I read that interview, it's the same person.

The show has been great but I agree that the season's end much where the they began. By the end of Season 5 they need to either make it or break it. HBO rarely keeps a series going much past 5-6 seasons. It would be great to see them make it in terms of getting bought up because they can't take their tech any further on their own. Then Richard would stay on with the company that buys them with Jared by his side. Dinesh and Gilfoyle cash out and end up buying a huge house and living together. After a certain point with all shows, growth in the characters is needed or the show dies.

I mean, mediocre is an interesting word to choose. He has had some solid second-tier roles to get to the point that he has, once he broke through on Silicon Valley, then more offers started coming in.

If you are referring to the kids movies as mediocre, idk what to tell you, cause How to Train Your Dragon was wildly successful and a solid animated movie, and Emoji Movie will probably be pushing box office records solely on its name along whatever you think of it.

He was great in Cloverfield, Big Hero 6, She's Out of My League, and Deadpool were all solid characters. I guess I just don't understand how you felt about his stand-up means he won't be successful or get any other acting gigs going forward now that he is off Silicon Valley.

He said himself he's not an actor, he's a comedian. That's kind of where I'm going. He's not going to make it doing comedy and eventually, his shtick is going to wear off on the acting side. Doing voice work is probably great but it hardly builds any notoriety. You get them after the notoriety and then once you lose it those go too? He reminds me of Dane Cook, actually.

He certainly is abrasive, but I think he can also be very deep, and that is why I think I'm finding myself defending him. And probably recency bias with some articles I've read. But, there were plenty of times in his stand-up that I walked away because I knew how the bit would go, but he also touched on some very intense, serious topics in a way where he got his point across on how he feels, while still sticking to his schtick.

Some people would get their first well-renowned, hour-long comedy special and try to cater to the larger mainstream audience, I applaud that he stuck to his beliefs/thoughts and made something that he wanted to make, and maybe I only felt that way after I read an article about his show that put it in a good way. But I digress, and understand where you're coming from.

I mean, Richard is the main character in the show, so we'll always have him and he'll always have a good amount of screentime

That being said, i think we've gone on an arc where at first he was too weak to take his company where it needed to go. This season he grew a pair but didnt know where the line was. The last scene with gavin, to me, said 'he's there'. Which hopefully means we're about done seeing this terrible and absolutely annoying version of richard that we've had this season.. so even if he has the same screentime, it will probably feel less so.

Also, ive started to love Gavin's character. I kind of get the feeling that part of him may actually want to see richard do well.

The trailer HBO put together for it didn't do him any favors. I didn't bother watching the special because the sixty seconds or so that they teased was dreadful.

Anyone think that the next season could start with a jump several years into he future? Richard wants to rival or take down Hooli so moving the story line along where they've moved successfully along could happen. Or maybe it would happen after a couple of episodes after dealing with the lose of TJ and having to look into moving into an actual office now that they've been funded.

Thoughts?

Agreed. If they go back to puking and night sweat Richard, I am checking out. New cheater Richard is much more tolerable, and a great play off Jared as his personal Jiminy Cricket.

Will be disappointed if Richard and Monica don't hook up next season for some further personal development and confidence.

It will be interesting what they do next year, either they get something going big or they bomb out bad (wouldnt mind seeing them do random crummy jobs for laughs while they climb back up). I was kind of surprised about how much Monica dug Richard in the first season then they quit trying to play on that idea for some reason.

Had no idea the show started up again last week. Great start so far, not often I laugh out loud watching anything but the Richard introducing himself to the new coders backstory was hilarious.

Been watching it, but haven't been enjoying it as much as the past. Last season wasn't great and not feeling this season so far. Seems they are setting jian yang for fun stuff later but that needs more screen time rather than just snippets.

Watched the first two episodes of this season yesterday. They're alright. Getting fairly repetitive. The "we're almost at a breakthrough then we fail miserably" arc is getting tired.

More Jared please. I could watch an entire season on Jared's past life.
"I also know what its like to not be able to save your entire family." LOL great line

I thought his stand-up was really good. I saw an interview with him somewhere on YouTube and ended up falling down a rabbit hole of watching all his clips. Solid stuff.
