Grad Transfer

Really glad to get Edwards. Hope Lonnie Johnson makes it to ISU. Getting Edwards is huge though. Starter or depth at safety. Great pickup.

Why did he transfer? None of the articles say that. Was it playing time? It's not like he's guaranteed to start at ISU

He was behind an upperclassman at Duke who I think is pretty good. You have to remember, Duke is not terrible at football anymore.

He didnt even start at Duke. Im not sure Im as excited about this as everyone else.

Duke is FAR better program than ISU right now..
Just because he did not start there does not mean he won't start for ISU.

I wouldnt use the word "Far" better. They get the benefit of an unbalanced ACC schedule. That being said hopefully he can give us some depth in the secondary and compete for the starting job.

Look a team that is 1-1 against Kansas the last couple of years, probably gets smacked around in an unbalanced ACC schedule as well.

Kid only helps raise the talent level of a program that really needs it. So that is why people should be excited.

Not to mention the fact he is knocking on the door of 6 foot tall.

Under previous staff there was a height limit ceiling of like 5' 8" to be a DB at ISU

But he also sort of did start, he played a specific position in a specific defense (the defense we will be running). It's no different than an H-back, Slot WR or nickel back. Just because they aren't a starter in the "base set" doesn't mean they aren't #1 at their position on the depth chart. I'm excited about this kid because he is a perfect fit for what the new staff wants to do. He's the one guy who has experience playing in a 4-2-5 defense, that will be big.

You realize he was only a sophomore right? It's possible to be good, and play behind someone better. And he still played a good amount, as a sophomore.
