I don’t have much to say right now. What is a thing, whatever topic you want, that you have wanted to say to people but there isn’t really a reason to say it? Confession, stranger story, joke - whatever, just keep it acceptable for prime time TV.

I don't like the "over the top" of Christmas gifts, and I especially hate the "over the top" of Santa gifts for the little ones.
Like, buy me a replacement belt if you see mine is getting frayed. You don't have to buy me something just because it's Christmas. Getting and giving is supposed to be fun, don't feel pressured into it though!
And the Santa thing. Santa brings reasonable gifts to our house. I don't need gloating at school or around friends when maybe Santa didn't deliver as much or as nice of gifts to their house.

I really despise the gift giving expectation of Christmas, frankly. It creates this financial burden and just adds pressure to that whole season. It really distracts people from what matters, IMO, and just makes the whole experience less enjoyable.

That's a big part of why I prefer Thanksgiving considerably.

I’m the exact same. I will get my kids stuff they need or focus more on experiences.

I personally hate getting gifts. If I need something I’ll go get it myself. I just ask my kids to give me gift of time (agree to do something with me throughout the year). Sounds hokey, but I truly hate getting gifts!!!

Nice to know there are others out there that far prefer Thanksgiving over Christmas!! Most think I’m crazy.

Birthdays are ridiculous.

Maybe it's cool if you're a child, but you aren't a child. There's an entire birthday arms race around here too. Stop. Just stop.

I did nothing except stay alive. That isn't worth a ******* cake and embarrassing singing.

Once a person hits double digits the birthday should be ended.

Amen on the gift topics. Especially as adults, don't give me 15 knick knacks when you could have gotten me one thing I may actually really enjoy or give me a gift card to somewhere I like.

Yeah it’s definitely lost its luster the further I get into adulthood. When I need something I’ll just buy it, and most of my ‘wants’ aren’t something I want to make others spend money on.

I’ve made it better by making a list of things I need and want throughout the year, and deciding which ones are gift worthy and which ones aren’t.

I like Thanksgiving because I usually don't go very far, and its 4 straight days.
Also, we switched from cooking to Smokey Ds packs. Turkey is over rated so we'll get the least amount necessary and then add on brisket and sausage.

So, I've had a successful career over the years because I am a very dialed in, hard worker. I have a few years to go before I retire, so I am trying to slow it down a bit from a stress level perspective. My job rewards the high producers with awards (plaques, trophies, trips, bonuses, etc...). I have earned many of these awards through the years. When I was much younger, I really enjoyed the recognition.

Now that I am older, I have developed a sense of Imposter Syndrome and I no longer crave the attention or want the recognition anymore.... in fact, it kind of embarrasses me. Don't get me wrong, it's nice that I am appreciated for my efforts, it's just that I don't really want or need the attention anymore. This might sound strange to most people, but that is where I am now.

Confession:

I've been going to the gym M-W-F after work before coming home. Wednesday, I had a particularly crappy day at work. I got to the gym and took a minute to chill before going inside. I checked my phone and my friend had sent me a link to a funny TikTok. I then proceeded to watch videos for 45 minutes.

I never went inside the gym and just drove home.

My wife asked how my workout was, and I said, "It was good"

A workout is also for the mind.

You felt better. Mission accomplished
