give me a break, she just asked a hypothetical question about a much discussed topic on here, and just because some of you don't like talking about it she's "stirring the pot"
That's interesting that Mac has issues relating to and connecting with his players. Also kind of alarming.
I guess I find it surprising because I don't think he had any issues at all with that at UNI. I remember reading an article in his first season before we played UNI when Eric Coleman and Grant Stout were quoted by the Register as saying that they would still get phone calls and text messages from Mac after they had a good game. He was also very close by to Stout last year when Stout had some sort of heart surgery. To me, that doesn't like someone that has trouble relating to college athletes.
I think Mac is a very good coach, but I think he has problems relating and connecting to his players. I think the recruiting will be an issue for him, but I still think he is the right guy for the job.
I have been an unapologetic, unqualified supporter of Mac's all along. I've defended him, heatedly at times. My perspective is that of a typical fan's in that I'm viewing the program from a distance and don't personally know any of the chief personalities involved (coaches or players).
If a key player were to leave now, after all that's transpired the past 24 months and when most of us desire and expect a certain stability in the program to be achieved finally, I'd be greatly shaken. I would lose a certain sense of confidence about Mac and his program.
Your comment about Mac's inability to connect with players has shaken me somewhat, too. Your remark seems contradictory in that you say relating and recruiting are problems but nevertheless that Mac's the right man for the job. Would you elaborate? What qualities make Mac the right man?
you weren't the only one pointing the "stirring the pot" finger. And what does that have to do with anything? The fact that she may be close to the program has absolutely nothing to do with this discussion
REALLY? Everyone on her is asking her questions like she is the AD or an assistant coach.

She pretty much is compared to what all of us joe schmo's know.REALLY? Everyone on her is asking her questions like she is the AD or an assistant coach.
If Mac doesn't relate well with players, and he knew that this was one of his weaknesses and he wanted to stay away from player relations....then why does he pick up Butler and Vanderbeken at the airport today....why not just let one of the assistant coaches pick them up....if Otz has such a great relationship with the coach at Tyler CC then why not have Otz pick them up....it seems to me that there are some contradictions here somewhere.....

and roughly 8 bazillion times more important than my opinion.
Damn, I thought there was a direct relationship b/t opinions and number of posts. Now I'll never be important
Exactly. Mac is a good coach and that's what he does well. He has a great staff to help connect with the players. There are a lot of coaches that aren't "player coaches" but they still get the job done. Mac isn't necessarily a "player's coach" but that doesn't mean he's not a good coach. He surrounded himself with assistant coaches and grad coaches that are "player coaches" so it all balances out.
