This is all I know about players leaving...

Just before the Big 12 Tournament...I heard rumor that two people were thinking about leaving(not from my source). My original thought was Boozer and CJ based on their lack of playing time.

Last night, I specifically asked about Brackins(staying), Boozer(staying), and CJ(leaving). CJ does not know where he is going yet.

As for the rest of the team, I think we're in good shape, but I did not ask about anybody else.
It would not surprise me about Boozer if he decides to leave but I am very happy and relieved that it looks like everyone else is going to stick around. We can finally get some stability and start building towards our goals.

When do we start the panic threads about Lucca and Diante? Or even Wesley?

Or do we just keep our cool? It's so hard to know anymore......

What would happen if one of those guys did leave? Would fans still support Mac, or would peopls's perceptions change? It's just a question, so please don't read into it too much.

13, you just punched the universal panic button on the site. I for one am intrigued, lets sit back and watch the fireworks :biglaugh:

Pure speculation but the head coach for the 2 kids that are visiting this weekend used to be the coach at Marshalltown CC. I believe he is an Iowa native. This might be the connection.

Someone mentioned that he was from Newton...I'm orginally from Newton and have never heard of the guy. The only Newton dude I'm aware of in any sporting thing is the trainer for the Chicago Cubs.

That's not what I wanted to happen. I guess it just seems to me that a lot of fans keep making excuses for why it's ok this player left, and that player left. So what would happen if one of our main players left? Would people all of a sudden turn on Mac? That's all I was asking.

To answer your question, yes, it probably would change the way a lot of people feel about him.

What is your honest opinion of Coach Mac and the BB program as a whole?

I think Mac is a very good coach, but I think he has problems relating and connecting to his players. I think the recruiting will be an issue for him, but I still think he is the right guy for the job.

Hard to think positive thoughts about this one...Not connecting with players, and recruiting will remain an issue, doesn't add up to right guy for the job. :skeptical:

Do our assistants relate well to the players to offset Mac not being able too? I really like Mac so I hope we can get this figured out. Also, I am really going to miss Rahshon at Iowa State. I hope you guys stay in touch with the progam, as we are going to miss seeing you guys.

Exactly. Mac is a good coach and that's what he does well. He has a great staff to help connect with the players. There are a lot of coaches that aren't "player coaches" but they still get the job done. Mac isn't necessarily a "player's coach" but that doesn't mean he's not a good coach. He surrounded himself with assistant coaches and grad coaches that are "player coaches" so it all balances out.

That's interesting that Mac has issues relating to and connecting with his players. Also kind of alarming.

I guess I find it surprising because I don't think he had any issues at all with that at UNI. I remember reading an article in his first season before we played UNI when Eric Coleman and Grant Stout were quoted by the Register as saying that they would still get phone calls and text messages from Mac after they had a good game. He was also very close by to Stout last year when Stout had some sort of heart surgery. To me, that doesn't like someone that has trouble relating to college athletes.
