Flora

Agree. I’d love to see Mouse get him the field as a backup back or slot guy. Really think he could be a difference maker.
They did have some special plays offense for Flora early in the season, but he injured his hamstring returning a punt. Since he has been back from the injury, didn't he have a drop or Rocco missed him for a TD. I can't remember.

I’m with you on the receiving group. Sowell was a miss, explains why Prime let him go at Colorado. He can make some plays but for being the #1 target he has consistently underperformed with bad drops at critical times.
Right after the drop Saturday, Sowell made a catch and broke a tackle for an important 3rd down conversion. I haven't given up on him or the other receivers. I think there is talent, they just need to play better. Much like Rocco. Some of our best receivers in recent history had issues with drops. Noel was one that overcame that.

Listened to Two Guys to hear Hassel cry about another big one that got away. He didn’t disappoint. When Flora’s name came up so did Hassel’s jerk meter. Made fun of his voice and asked CW— “How old is that kid?” CW missed a good opportunity to let Hassel know Flora is old enough and easily tough enough to kick his a$$.

Don't know much about his background aside from what has been shared about his track times in here. Is it possible he was a late bloomer in football? That in tandem with being a 3A school versus 4a or 5a etc. It seems like historically speaking, few kids that come 3a straight to Iowa or Iowa State end up on scholarship right away, although that is more a hunch of mine and less grounded in research.
He played all of the skill positions on offense during his time at ADM.

It was Adel Desoto up to around 1993 when they added Minburn. I remember because it coincided with the huge floods that year. It used to be tiny (along with Waukee and DCG and several other districts that have exploded in size in the last 20 years). I think the senior class in the early and mid 90s was below 50 kids.
It was 1993 but the class sizes at that time were between 100-110. The growth really hit about 10 years ago when a 7 year tax abatement was created. I was a teacher in the community and have lived here for 40 years.

There is track speed and then there is “game” speed just like how some players don’t look as good at practice but when the lights go on, they play at a higher level. Aiden shows extra juice when given a shot, I’d like to see him used more in the backfield particularly out in the flat with a short pass while one on one with a LB. Abu may be faster but for whatever reason Abu has the ability to make the wrong cut and pick the hole that is closing.

No offense to the kid but I saw enough of him catching passes a couple of weeks ago

Williams always and I mean always lays down to Hassel.

adds up, I graduated from Panorama High in 97 and we'd play them in baseball/football

Took him just 8 seconds to run 70 yards. That is pretty good with the pads and running on the turf.

Anyone writing off Sowell as a miss...doesn't know football. He was hurt early...and has disappointed to an extent...but the talent is clearly there and the consistency will emerge. May not see his full ability until next season...but we will see it. Players have the game slow down for them...no telling just when that light turns on.

I watched him his senior season and he was a do it all QB, but he had a tendency to get dinged up. He was super fast and athletic, but I wasn't sure he was big enough to compete at the D1 level. I feel like it can be hard to measure with 4A kids who don't have measurables that jump out at you like Will Hawthorn from Gilbert.

Now that you mention it what happened to Dom Overby? I think he played in 4 games and had 2 TD’s, redshirted last year. His bio is very impressive in Utah HS track.

He is on the depth chart at WR and it looks like he made a key block for Flora.
