Maybe it’s because I’m also a soccer fan, but I don’t really get the hate for ties. As 3truefans said, sometimes it’s fun to watch both teams lose, and there are plenty of times when a tie can feel like a win for one team and a loss for the other

I could get on board with no game clock and equal possessions till someone wins. Also, get rid of the big delay between regulation and OT. Flip the damn coin and GO. But anything else that differs from how you've played the game for 60 minutes, like college OT, I don't like.I think the current NFL model is fine, just get rid of the damn game clock. I do think that if you take the possibility of a tie out of the equation it will completely change how teams attack, especially after both teams have had a possession.
Tush push complainers on edge at the thought of this.Shootout of two-point conversions.
Best of three attempts.
Still tied…?
One attempt each until decided.
Decide it on goal line offense/defense.
I don't think that's the case anymore. This season they are using the playoff OT rules with the exception being a 10-minute clock, I believe. No, because a FG doesn't end the game. Only a TD.
This is the way, if you have to have a winner then just keep playing the game as is until someone fails to match the other team. Unless it's a win and you're done game though in the playoffs I don't think it matters if there's a tie.I could get on board with no game clock and equal possessions till someone wins. You are correct. A TD does not automatically win the game. My bad. But my response to the other poster stands. They aren't racing to kick a FG like before.I don't think that's the case anymore. This season they are using the playoff OT rules with the exception being a 10-minute clock, I believe.

I liked the original college OT system before you had to trade 2 pt. attempts. It took them a long time but college OT has been perfected.
In the flip side college needs to copy nfl replay system.
College is the 3 like HS I believe. Can you run that from the two-yard line?

Guess what? The college model hates you too....I hate college OT. You play the game for 60 minutes, and then in OT it's a whole different game.
My immediate reaction is who gives a ****? Do people actually get worked up because the game ended in a tie? Do you have to be unemployed to care about stuff like that?I'm actually shocked at how many people are ok with ties. I don't know anyone who is and I'm not hearing anyone on sports radio today who is.
Part of it is that you’re more likely to make comment/call in if you’re upset about something. And it happens rarely enough that it doesn’t come up all that muchI'm actually shocked at how many people are ok with ties. Also, it sometimes feels like the anti-tie argument can fall into “ties are unmanly and un-American” arguments which why subject yourself to that?
