Favorite Sandwich Shop?

I’d have to think on the best sandwich ever but one that would certainly be in the running came to my head instantly. It was in San Diego at a Deli in Little Italy. I had a project there most of 2019 and I went here regularly.

Mona Lisa Italian Foods. Big fat sandwiches with imported deli meats, fresh baked bread, and mean Italian guy making it. It was perfection

Even had the Italian sodas. Nice.

I played baseball there on occasion and we went there for the mall that is no more. Town I grew up in was about pop 700 and Chuck Town had moderately better shopping (at that time, anyway) than Cresco or New Hampton. I understand what you are saying, though.
Chucktown still has more shopping than Cresco or New Hampton (it’s close to double the population of either), but I would wager both have higher home values.

Marshalltown is Sub City for sure. We’ve taken trips from Ankeny to go back up there just to get subs.

Around Des Moines, I tend to gravitate towards Firehouse. Not a huge sandwich guy though.

In Dubuque my favorite is Jersey Mikes. Not a lot of local sandwich places (or at least convenient for me).

When I lived in Clive, Palmer's was my go to sandwich place. Loved the Turnberry- smoked turkey with cranberry chutney cream cheese spread. Awesome. Plus they had great sweets - lemon bars, brownies and rocky road bars.

Makes my stomach growl!!!

Jersey Mike's is very good for a chain, but in my opinion every chain sub shop starts great and slowly or quickly loses quality after it gets huge and become mostly about expansion/price.

Even Potbelly in Chicago that started out so good had lost quality of its ingredients by the time I moved away about 8-9 years ago. It seemed almost exactly when they started trying to go nationwide the meat quality dipped.

It'll be interesting to see if Jersey Mikes is decent in 10 years or goes way downhill.

Anyone ever lucky enough to enjoy a sister sandwich?
