F1 2024 Discussion

I’ll give Williams credit for having some backbone here at least. I assume Merc was pushing Mick hard because they love him for some reason. RB and Merc probably said no to Lawson or Antonelli. Rather than cave and put in a wash out or other teams reserve, go with a kid from your own academy and see what he’s got for a few races.

If you are Drugovich and I might be spelling that wrong, He needs to move on. This is Williams basically telling him they don't trust him and he isn't good enough.
Williams is trying to rebuild, to do that they'll need a worthwhile junior program, passing over your own competent junior driver for a reserve driver at another team doesn't really say much for your junior program.

I'm going to laugh when Andretti takes Logan as a driver in IndyCar and he's successful.

Logan wasn't set up for success at Williams, yes he was a one man wrecking machine, but my god Williams is/was an absolute MESS from the inside, they were running stuff on Excel for gods sake. But at what point in time are we going to start looking at Vowles? Is he REALLY that good? or is he just using big words to sound more intelligent than he is?

Logan was actually a pretty good driver and multiple race winner in the junior categories but you're right Williams didn't do the kid any favors. I didn't expect him to be the second coming of Lewis Hamilton or anything but he really should have been closer to Albon. I could absolutely see him getting a decent Indycar ride and doing well in that series.

Logan Sargent is out for (checks notes) Franco Colapinto?
Sure feels like there are a lot better drivers out there than another F2 guy in that seat.

Ouch, rough F1 career for Logan. Hopefully he can figure it out in a different series.

Don’t feel bad for Williams, this was the risk in keeping someone who was never going to cut it in F1.

Antonelli made quite an entrance, got the fastest lap on his first lap and then spun and hit the wall pretty hard at parabolica on lap 2.

We’ll see what kind of race pace the Red Bull has, but it’ll be a chore for Max to make his way past the Mercs and Ferrari’s it’d seem. Lando could slash that lead down to 50-55 points tomorrow.

Here comes the true test if Max has matured. All he really has to do is not **** up from here on out and he should still be champ by taking the points he can get. If he can’t handle not being first and forces himself where he doesn’t belong, it could slip away pretty easily.

Maybe. Qualifying 7th means he can’t just sit there and not be aggressive trying to move up. Finishing in say 5th-7th if Lando is getting podiums wouldn’t cut it the rest of the way.

Yeah, but this is Monza, this is a crazy odd track. (Imagine if they still used the full layout). Max will still get his. He finished 2nd last week. I’d say this is more odd than the norm. Don’t get me wrong though, I’d like nothing better than to see this be his best qualifying place the rest of this season.

But Baku and Singapore are next and they seem to struggle on those real street circuits, especially Singapore.

I’m probably mostly willing the title fight into existence due to disliking Max so much haha.

I hope you are right. I still think if Max doesn’t get stupid, he’ll win it, even qualifying outside the top 5. Max is a great driver, if he lets the race come to him, he’ll still finish in better spots than he starts. Here is to hoping Max does Max things.

The math for Lando gets a lot easier if RB slips into the middle of Merc and Ferrari.

I don’t think Max does much better than 7th tomorrow, they haven't been able to hook that car up all weekend.

Historically though Red Bull has been able to pull stuff out of their ass on race day. I’ll say max gets 3rd or 4th

Also hot take. George is a better driver right now than Lewis in my opinion. George seems to have shaken that last few lapse pushing to hard thing.
