This whole conspiracy against Iowa State is nonsense. We were 5-26 from 3 point range. Our bigs were outmatched and all they could do was foul- constantly in the wrong place. We didn’t play our best game against a good team on the road. Miss shots, play sloppy D, you’re going to lose.

Does anyone really think TJ went to the locker room after the game and said, “great game guys, and we would’ve won of it weren’t for those meddling refs”. There is no crazy conspiracy hatched by back-room power brokers to keep Iowa State down. We just need to play better on the road.

You must be an official. You don’t like shade being thrown at your craft.

So, Let's look at this for a moment....
ISU Shot 36% from the field to TT 43.5% yet ISU makes three more baskets. ( two of which are 3 pointers ).
ISU has 1 less assist that TT, yet are tied in rebounds. ISU has 4 more steals than TT yet TT has 3 less Turnovers.
AND the only real disparity in the stats are the FOULS ( TT 29 made FT ISU 9 made FT) ISU shoots only 15 and TT 38????
Its easy to see from my vantage point that Officiating does have a play in games...

yes, we did a lot to ourselves, but they let Tech play a completely different game than our guys. They let Tech play physical, holds, hand slaps like crazy, bumping, restricting movement, etc..which is fine as long as they let us do the same thing, they didn't and our guys were forced out of playing a physical and aggressive game because of how it was being called.
ISUNO, why is my take dumb? Not that it matters, but do you think I said something inaccurate?

"Officiated poorly", sure. But when people incessantly point out a foul differential it implies bias, which is where people lose me.
Oh yeah, foul differential by itself really tells you nothing about the job they did. If a team jacks up threes all game long they aren't going to draw many fouls.

So, there is never any bias by officials? I’d bet good money that it exists at a high level. Of course, not every game is officiated by biased officials. A lot of them are just inept.

I'm not sure there is "never" bias. I have no doubt there are coaches/players refs don't like. I'd imagine there may even be some teams that get the benefit of the doubt. But I can promise you there is no larger force dictating that Texas Tech gets calls over Iowa State.

100%, its almost always incompetency over malice. Credit to TT for having their home court advantage play such a difference. Hope we get a rubber match at Hilton South.

Iowa State was shooting jump shots all night while Tech was constantly attacking the basket. That is the reason for the foul discrepancy.

I thought we should have tried posting up Jones or Conditt a lot to help with this. Conditt spent most of the time on offense around the perimeter. Other teams have had some success against Tech offensively. Not much, but some success. Our coaching staff has failed to adjust to Tech's defense.

I agree the refs were terrible, inconsistent, and it was dam hard to watch........ that being said, OUR game was never in control and consistent enough for TJ to throw a FIT. He has a philosophy about hard work, community, and integrity. He would have just looked like a whiny baby, the way we were playing.
I have my doubts about certain coaching decisions (offense!). But, I have no doubts regarding TJ's big picture. When it's the right time he will throw his ref

Reality is Tech is the best defensive team, at least in the conference, if not nationally. They’re physical, long, and athletic. And they have a great scheme

When they they’re allowed to play with their hands, and be as physical as they want to be, almost every team in college basketball will struggle to score on them.

This would be the case, however, how many of Tech's free throws came off of non-shooting fouls (away from the rim that still gave them free throws). Maybe tech wasn't so good at attacking the basket, but got hand check calls and bumps that weren't called at the other end. 7+ fouls leads to free throws no matter what they were doing to get those calls. Jones going after loose ball? Foul Tech gets free throws. Your take is garbage.

it doesn't have to be bias. remember, due to the way the officials are placed, you have different people calling different parts of the floor on either end. It doesn't have to be biased, just unfair because officials aren't consistent.

Most of the fouls on us were around the basket. Most of the fouls on us prior to the bonus were shooting fouls.

If he throws a ref he is going to get more than just a technical foul. He will be suspended for multiple games.

Ever since they went to 3 refs the games have been called worse! I’m surprised we had anybody left to play the way we were treated by the refs!
