Explosions at Boston Marathon

Actually, I've been wondering why someone would choose to target a marathon. It seems like if they were going for 'mass effect' there would be better targets. Of course, I haven't thought about it that much:wideeyed:
I'm thankful the death toll was small but they got the desired effect. And no I'm not referencing any group in particular with "they".

Boston marathon has historical significance that I believe links back to Patriot Day etc it actually is an interesting choice

Media outlets reporting the investigating team will release clear photos of 2 potential suspects in an effort to enlist the public to help find them. Which really makes you wonder what the hell was going on yesterday...

because all middle easterners are crazy bomb makers. not Caucasian people like timothy mcveigh or ted kasinsky.

Someone should do a study and see which race has a greater percentage of crazy bomb makers.

OK, steering towards the cave. Who cares what race has more bombers? Catch this/these jackarses no matter what color they are. Dirtbags are dirtbags. Simple as that. Not worth further discussion.

I'll say this, Deadspin is right but the FBI needs to share the blame. They asked for the public's help. Then when they get a clear picture of who they are looking for they withhold it from the public and let the speculation run rampant.

Yes, the New York Post is severely irresponsible to release this kind of picture without a legit source to back it up. If that person truly is innocent, they should sue NYP for a crap load of money.

The Boston Bombing Witch Hunt Bags Another Innocent Kid
Yeah, lots of people pointing out people that didn't look like marathon runners, really got out of hand quickly.

That guys gonna get paid.

Wow....yeah, I'm sure there are some attorney's drooling at this! And pretty simple for him to prove innocence (like pulling that bag out of his closet, etc).

I know I posted the reddit thing yesterday that showed this and it is good behind the scenes for FBI to follow up on all leads, but for a news organization to take that and run with it (likely without consulting with any law enforcement) really is bad (both for a potential investigation or, in this case, smearing someone).

Any good reasons why the FBI says "we are going to release the photos later today to help aid in the search" rather than just releasing them?

Or why they would cancel 3 press conferences yesterday after the giant media-fail?

I wouldn't be nearly as concerned about these two guys (who at least appear to be marathon-ish clothed if that's what we're going for) as I would about the two guys who were wearing earbuds, wearing combat boots and black backpacks. They were probably guardsmen or security, but they looked a lot more out of place than these guys.

In fact, in the one picture they showed, I counted three other people in the picture also wearing backpacks, they just weren't black bags or darker-skinned individuals.

It doesn't make a lot of sense...especially when you consider the public had identified nearly any and all individuals who were pictured carrying a black bag within a few hours.

There's no reason to claim that the public has a clue what's going on in this searching. Nobody identified squat.

You're right except the FBI asked for the public's help. Then on top of that they released one photo showing the remains of a black pack that was one of the bombs. What did they think the public would do? They identified several similar black packs near the area at about the time the event occurred.

Again, my beef is with the NYP for releasing a story like that.

Also I'm trying to think of another tragedy that was possibly as photo'ed as this one was and held the same amount of digital clues to assist the investigation.

The NYP is a tabloid, not a real news source.

Also, doesn't the FBI have footage from the department store surveillance camera that the public has not seen, or are some of these photos that are all over the place stills from that footage?
