Explosions at Boston Marathon

Maybe the response was a tad harsh, but I have to agree with the sentiment.

Agreed, and it was the way it was responded that irked me. No, by no means is this the ONLY thing they are looking at. But it is one of many ways you profile.

Your point is interesting though as it could apply if it was a well thought out planned attack. It definitely could have been a well thought out coordinated terrorist like attack. It just as easily could have been a lone wolf attacker who didn't put much as much thought/planning in to it. At this point both are very plausible.

Straps below the guys elbow look gray (i.e., the ones that connect the shoulder strap to the bottom of the backpack). The strap in the blown up one look black (i.e., the one that is furthest upper-left). Just my opinion.

Would be pretty easy to clear up:

Situation #1
FBI: What were you doing at the marathon on Monday?
Dude: Watching my sister run.
FBI: Can we see the backpack you had?
Dude: That was my sisters and had clothes for her to change into after the race.
FBI: Let’s give her a call.
Dude: Sure thing, she will be glad to help.

Situation #2
FBI: What were you doing at the marathon on Monday?
Dude: Just hanging out.
FBI: Can we see the backpack you had?
Dude: I lost it.
FBI: Let’s go where we can ask some more questions.

How much would it freak you out to be the dude in #1 and see your picture on the internet? Man, I would be on the phone to the FBI and bringing my backpack in ASAP! Nobody at FBI or anywhere else wants a repeat of the Atlanta bombing were they actually had the wrong guy.

Definitely not her......View attachment 19624

Was actually thinking

The best character to be is the hot chick. She is also usually, somehow, the best fighter on the team and kicks the most *** on the show.

I think at this point gravity would deny me this role. Maybe I can be the groundbreaking old lady sidekick for the really BA hot guy that always has to run down the bad guys. I could hold his gun and write some algorithm that narrows the suspect list from 4 million to half a dozen.

Boston Marathon bombings: More details, more questions - CNN.com

I think we'll know sooner than later. Earilier when it was discussed how heavily photoged the event is you can almost bet this person is on film somewhere and the pieces are there.

We are showing our age when we talk about "film" and "tape" since both are becoming less and less common. I mention taping something and my kids give me a blank stare. Never mind trying to explain why we say "dailing" when we enter someone's phone number into the phone.

More random speculation by us internet sleuths.

chirpbirdchirp comments on Boston Marathon Explosion - Live Update Thread #8

Interesting that this thread focuses on a complete different person(s) of interest. But I think it does a good job of underscoring that when you have very little to go on you use profiling. Do the two guys and the odd looking guy warrant a closer look, yep. Not definitive proof either way but definitely something that would looked at closely.

Im gonna say that is more throwing $%(^ at the wall to see what sticks rather than profiling. They found one guy who was carrying a black backpack and developed back story to fit their theory.

I hope the FBI investigators are better at "profiling" than us internet slueths. SMH

What if the guy in situation #2 was smart enough to buy a second backpack to have as a alliby (sp) in the instance that someone asked the very questions you did?

They are better and quicker. Very easy to discount as lead or not with other pictures which they surely have available.

Id ask him when and where he bought it. If it was recent enough, go to the store and see what they have for video and receipts and see if he bought more than one.
But still, it wouldn't be enough to convict him of anything but would be a good start.

The Boston Globe reported that officials have found an image of "a suspect carrying, and perhaps dropping, a black bag at the second bombing scene."

wouldn't it be funny if it's bigbake's slouchy looking guy.

Not a happening I'd want to be right about. I found it more interesting how that other site/thread was a pseudo combination of two different types of suspects.

Anyway...news breaking now that we'll know sooner than later a definitive suspect and that the internet conjecture over possible suspects ends.

the Anonymous one? I just looked at that.

Wouldn't you think there had to be at least two individuals involved? How easy would it be to bring in two backpacks or leave and get the other one without detection?

Everybody's focus would be on the race, not a dude walking around with 2 backpacks. As noted before, there were probably a lot of people who were carrying a couple bags near the finish area.

Suspect arrested per CNN.

I think we can completely write this workday off for being productive for most Americans. Gonna be a glued to the news day.
