ESPN Fiesta Bowl preview

It isn't like we can just stop watching the games to protest. Then we also depend on ESPN money for the program. ESPN can get away with this crap. How do you counter this so it is fair reporting?

Where's the ire for a Florida team who has like 1 quality win. Oh thats right, they are in the SEC. That absolves them from all criticism.

I like how he brings up that Washington should have been in the Title game, ignoring that their Covid outbreak is what cancelled the de facto P12 North title game between Oregon and Washington for the right to take on USC.

The whole thing is full of pot-shots about why neither team deserves to be in the Fiesta.

Bowl games are all about celebrating a team's season and rewarding their hard work. I wonder if this writer ever befriended an actual athlete while he was in school?

Unfortunately, what so many of the ESPN writers bias against ISU and the Big 12 in general means, is next year we have to hope to start the year in the top 10 and then win all of our games, because any loss will be a reason to keep us out and tell us how undeserving we are to play in the CFP.

But the thing is, these clowns writing garbage from their studio apartments doesn’t matter. They didn’t influence the CFP.

He was their "Big 12" guy, and never covered 1 Iowa State game in those 3 years. Not even a road game.
What was hilarious was when he put a top ten best stadium environments in the Big 12 and he had ISU near last. WRNL roasted him good asking how do you know where ISU ranks if you have never even been here. They even offered him all expenses paid trip for him to cover a game in Ames. Of course he still wouldn’t do it.

ESPN has been trash literally for decades. They are functionally no different from cable news in that their goal is to get clicks for advertising dollars and subscribers. They have some good content behind the paywall (ESPN+) though their app is garbage and makes that content hard to find. Stats and streaming is all they have to offer.

So true. These guys thrive on getting a rise out of fans. Do you all remember David Ubben? He was also an ESPN blogger. After ISU fired Rhoads he said something like ISU is in for a rude awakening for where they stand in college football based on the next the coach we hire.

He was silent after ISU hired Campbell and was really never to be heard of again. He no longer works for ESPN.
That guy always seems like a lazy, asshat sucking off the OU/UT teet.

forgot about David ubben, what a no talent hack that guy was...just awful

As someone else said, it was just bizarre to inject all of that butthurt into a game preview article. Big fail from the writer and his editors (if he had one on this).

For those that love the coverage in The Athletic:
