Ernst

247 auto defaults any juco player to a 3 star when they commit to a program. We won't know real juco rankings until May orobably.

Well considering they have other JUCOs rated and a few four stars I don't think this is true.

Go to town. We know you have oodles of free time to spam this site.

How am I spamming this site? I guarantee you hated when we signed Ernst but now that it gives you an opportunity to put this staff down you'll pretend like he'd be a contributor.

I'm not sure why anyone thinks Ernst would have stayed even if we wanted him to.

I got the impression we were the only ones who would take him with his injury and he really wanted to be at Iowa or UNI.

Whatever. I don't think Prohm is alone in failing to secure quality traditional bigs here.

Perhaps Ernst laughed at our big men development and usage and decided he could go to a better program. He went all in on himself and won.

Only Hoiberg failed, and it was largely his own doing.

I think this is true. He never seemed to me to be all in with the team. He would do some stuff but generally seemed to keep to himself from what I saw.

Why? Loaded backcourt and he's good enough to find minutes. Ernst redshirted last year and Carter played spot minutes when McKay was out. I just don't think Ernst would be any better than Holden this year.
DJ was recruited to be the backup point guard(if monte left the starting). I love Naz, Matt, and Babby but they aren't Pgs like Monte and DJ are. Once DJ got into the flow of big 12 basketball he wasn't going to have a hard time getting minutes.

What production would Ernst need to have at Xavier for people to think we made a mistake?

I think people would be all over the place with that answer.

I think if he scores 1 point over 3 years, some will think it's a mistake.

And if he averages 10 & 7 some will still insist that Carter had more upside and was the right choice to keep or was "a better fit".

Were you around the team quite a bit?

I'm shocked that a fan or player would say something bad about a guy who decided to transfer.

Fair point but on the flip side, can you show me any positive comments from any ISU personnel regarding Kasongo? ISU has had something like 8 sit out transfers the last 5 years? Almost all we've heard about how good they've looked during their sit out year. Crickets on Kasongo.

Since I'm not going to read all this thread I may have missed it, but what makes people think Prohm"chose" Carter over Ernst? First it's possible two people get the same message and make different decisions. Regardless of what was said, at the time with Lard, Young and Malou on the way and being in the hunt for Stokes, it was pretty clear that the staff was/is going to keep trying to recruit over Ernst and Carter. X will do the same Id guess, but for whatever reason Ernst thought it was best for him there vs ISU.
They made different decisions, it doesn't mean they were told different things. Outwardly Carter seems to happy being here and being part of the team even without playing. Man, every coach misses on guys a lot. It happens, move on. Just think, UNC nearly used up a scholly for four years on dingleberry.
