Just like it was with the Iowa streak, one of the biggest things that has to happen is for the team to get the "This is Oklahoma, they are supposed to beat us" thoughts out of the team's heads. Once ISU got over the hump with Iowa it was game on. Not that I think the level of talent at Iowa is comparable to OU, but it shouldn't be unreasonable to think that once ISU gets over the hump they should be able to take one from OU every few years and play with them at least half of the time.

I was in Norman for the 10 -10 tie, A fun game we should have won (like lots of ISU football games that, alas, we didn't win). Alex Giffords missed a "chip-shot" field goal at the end that would have given us the win. The visitors section was small but vocal that day.

I remember a night game in Ames when it looked like ISU had them on the ropes and on 4th and 17 I think their barefoot punter broke containment after a bad snap and made the first down by 3 inches. They went on the wint hte game. That is ISU history in a nutshell.

Chris Pederson, not Bret Oberg, was the QB for the 33-31 win in Norman in 1990. Oberg was the QB for the 43-40 loss in Ames the year before. Man this has been a mismatch.

Ha! I'm just giving you a hard time Kirk. But honestly, I like that you provide a different way of looking at things (for better or worse) using stats. Adds perspective to the conversation and a lot of "oh damn I didn't realize that" moments. So, thanks!
