We'll see, but I'm not sure this coaching staff can correctly self critique. While I want to stay tuned with how Campbell handles this adversity, I am not hopeful he will do what needs to be done.

Sad. I'll probably be back, but think I need to stay away for awhile. It's pretty painful.
LOL. You can’t stay away. You are too passionate. Not a bad thing, I’m the same way.

It's really amazing how quickly Campbell has gone from "the man that can do no wrong" to "on the ****-list" - and he really has nobody to blame but himself.

I honestly hope this is all coachspeak and not a preview of the inaction he's going to take this offseason, because his refusal to acknowledge the dysfunction in his offense and special teams is going to be the death of his coaching career in Ames.

He’s not going to publicly tell people they are going to be fired at the end of the year. He will meet with them in his office, and tell them then after the season is over.

Here's why the bolded works in the Big Ten and not in the Big 12...note the AVG/G column. Really hoping the ISU coaching staff figures this out sooner than later. These stats are for conference games only.

11 ppg separate #9 and #1 in scoring. And then there is a gap of 9.3 ppg to us at #10. Epic failure.

I’m not convinced he will fire anyone, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try to change something drastic. At the end of the day, Manning is calling exactly what Campbell wants him to call. Firing someone for doing exactly what you tell them to and having it backfire is a cowardly move. With Myers, Campbell sees himself as a mentor here. He’s not the type to cut ties just because results aren’t working. Now if there’s something going on culturally in the rooms that we don’t see, absolutely I could see him firing someone. And we all clearly see there is something happening that’s bad, both in results as well as just body language. That tells us something’s probably going to happen, but I don’t have any confidence that it’s going to be firing multiple people or anything that big.

And many people are JUST fine with another year of that, and lash out at the critics that realize you CANNOT bring people back that fail that badly.

You absolutely cannot pay someone nearly a million dollars in today's world and reward them with another year after that. No way.

And if you dare do you should absolutely be gone. That's an insult to all those good people that pay good money and spend many hours traveling to support Cyclone Football.

They talk about it being fixable, but it has been an issue all year, so if it is fixable, how come they have not fixed it by now. Didn't the Iowa DC make a comment that they pretty much know what play we are going to run most of the time?
Everyone in the stands or watching on TV can tell you the next play call so don't know why an opposing team's DC wouldn't. Predictable offense and a poorly coached one at that. Execution at this point of the season is a coaching problem.

No one is “just fine” with that. Find one post backing up that ridiculous statement.

Given how much he cares about the development of the players, both as football players and as people, that wouldn't surprise me.

I think he looks at football as a way to help young men become grown men, a milieu where they can learn, grow, mature as humans. And he takes pride and personal reward in watching those young men develop. I think that is what he feels his calling or vocation really is. Not just winning football games.

The fact that he may care more about the relationships with those guys more than they care, that would take a hammer to his real goals. And frankly, it would hurt.

If CMC said, "hey I have $20M in the bank that I will never spend, NIL is wrecking what I want to do with my life, so I am going to go help guys at a Div3 school instead because that is my vocation" - would you really be all that shocked?
didn't he actually make a comment along the lines about the day he has to pay players that he would rather coach D3?

Looking forward to your absence as you leave and follow through with your threats of nonsupport. Goodbye.

Exactly I’d like to see the numbers but our offense must run the ball 60 to 70% of the time on 1st down plays. Then factor in most of those are runs up the middle from the shotgun.
These runs rarely get more than 2-3 yards. It starts us off behind the sticks.

I’ve noticed all season opposing defenses shift their defensive alignment with Rus in the game. Load the box and When Rus goes in motion that’s where the ball will be run

I may be wrong but I’ve seen very few pulling lineman to create double team opportunities on the edges. The offense creates double teams by the TE or Hback but allow the defense to shift to the heavy side.

When the play doesn’t work it’s blamed in execution.

There is a rule in manufacturing engineering that defects are not random and are not caused by simple mistakes; for every error, there must be a systemic adjustment to programming, tooling, methods, training, materials. Campbell says otherwise - that mistakes just happen and let's hope that they magically go away on their own.

100% agree. I'm on record here that if we don't make some changes in the way we approach the offensive side of the football, I probably won't renew my 6 season tickets. I have not enjoyed myself watching this type of football and these losses. If that makes me a bad fan, so be it. But its my money and why am I spending thousands of my dollars to watch something that isn't enjoyable.
30 to 40K at a game after ALL of the facility upgrades... work with donors...and a light crowd in CyTown come game day. That sounds exactly like what JP would like his swan song to be.
JP isn't going to tolerate back to back to back crappy football.... ie 21, 22, 23.
This. The bottom line with JP is…the bottom line. We have debt service on a 90 million dollar performance center and tens of millions remaining on stadium improvements. No worries when your getting 61,000+ for home games and fan enthusiasm is sky high. Plenty of worries if Trice is half full of disgruntled fans and enthusiasm for the program is cratering. I sincerely HOPE CMC gets the ship righted. I personally like Matt and like how he has represented himself and ISU. But if we continue to see the brutal brand of non-productive football we’ve seen the last 2 seasons…well, like I said JP is a bottom line guy.
