Don't Expect Many If Any Changes In Offense

Honest question.

How bad does it have to get for you to admit this offense has severe problems and something is very, very wrong with ISU football?

I mean, do you enjoy predictable and repetitive playcalling?

Do you cheer when plays are called that instead of taking advantage of the opponent's weakness, they stress Iowa State's?

Do you think trying to run a lesser form of Hawkeye Football, with fewer resources, worse media coverage, and limited recruiting influence is a smart strategy, considering ISU is operating in Iowa's shadow?

Iowa State doesn't come out and try to roll anyone. First half is play it safe, don't show too much, and hope it is close enough that winning the second half wins the game. So predictable. And our opponents have adjusted.

They simply do it better than us now, which is why they are winning.

We have offensive problems. Campbell is not going to do anything until AFTER the season is over. And he will make that decision in the timeframe of his choosing. I will wait until after those things take place before ranting and raving about the decisions made by Campbell. I support the Cyclones all the time. My love for the Cyclones is unconditional. Loyal Son Forever True.

Who do you have lined up to replace CMC? Realistically?

And what do you do about defense?

Do you want ISU in track meets?

7-6 and playing Clemson in a bowl game is not a true “down year.” If we get to a bowl game every year then that is an accomplishment.
This was the team that won the FIESTA BOWL the previous season and by all accounts is the greatest team EVER at Iowa State in the modern era. The team that was a single interception away from winning the Big 12 championship.

The issue is you are not showing program consistency when you go 7-6 in the seasons preceding and following the greatest season in school history that the program has broken through. There was more program consistency in 2017-2018 with two 8-win seasons and a lot of promise.

Mark Mangino won the Orange Bowl for Kansas going 12-1 following with an 8-5 record the next season. Then he seemed to think players didn't execute and went to extremes to attempt to ensure that they did leading to his departure and subsequent hiring as Paul Rhoads last chip to continue his regime.

It would seem just having one great season and a few above average seasons does not guarantee the ability to sustain a great program over time.

Do you think that ISU team wins a Fiesta Bowl in a normal season?

I think going above .500 in the Big 12 and going to a bowl game is always going to be a success at Iowa State. There is no issue with thinking things need to be tweaked but the idea that Matt needs to do something or “else” …well that’s just stupid but yet completely predictable.

Personally, no I do not. I do not think it detracts from the achievement. That was a once in the history of college football season in the modern era. Teams in major conferences did not even know if they’d even have a season. Home field advantage was reduced or eliminated depending on the school.

Individually, it was the most accomplished single season in school history.

I still don’t think it would have happened if it was a standard season. A little more consistency in the surrounding years would have convinced me otherwise. Even one 8 win season would have gone a long way either right before or after 2020.

Do you people even watch the games?

The same unpreparedness and mistakes are still there in year 7 at a P5 school.

We cannot handle going up tempo.

QBs are handcuffed and become headcases.

Blocking is atrocious, scheme and execution.

Game philosophy is always the same, keep it close first half, only take risks during second half, and only then if down two scores.

Slow run play following gain of 20+ yards.

No designed plays that scheme players open. Did you watch the Vikes yesterday? Either JJ is open, or he drags 3 defenders with and others come open.

We've paid MAC Matty almost $10 million in just the last two years to not only greatly underachieve, but show almost no capacity to adapt to conditions or matchups on offense and special teams.

We have on conference win, and that score was 10 to 7 heading into the 4th quarter at our place, against a weak and depleted opponent.

Can't wait for more excuses next year related to CampbellBall. Go State!!!!!

It's called validating a victory.

Not getting bowl eligible in 2011 after beating OSU was troublesome.

Not winning more than 7 games after 2000 was worrisome.

Not learning from 2003 and 2004 heading into 2005 was troublesome, and got DMac fired.

2021 and 2022 are freaking huge red flags for anyone that is capable of honest assessment.

Flukes happen, success requires sustainment.

ISU got a bowl in 2011.

Who do you want for DC on the next staff?

Iowa State Football: accept mediocrity, do not question, devote your $$$ and time without expectation or accountability.
I think your spinning an argument that has no basis in reality.

Wait until the season is over and see what changes are made. Campbell is a traditionalist. He's not going to criticize coaches or players publicly. He's going to grind through the season.

That's the damn problem.

Why wasn't there a major shakeup earlier?

Why no adjustments to, well, anything, after it became evident this offense was not going to work?

That's the biggest red flag of all.

A whole season absolutely WASTED, with apparently no effort to try new and different things like we did with the defense years ago.

Almost $5 million just this year to Matt for him to yell "Execute better!".

I’m sorry, are we talking about the same coach who has had no problem firing unpaid quarterbacks mid-season, but won’t fire his best bud who’s making six figures delivering one of the worst P5 offenses?

Who's the unpaid QB who got fired? If it was Park, he got the boot for non football issues.
