Don't Expect Many If Any Changes In Offense

Since you ignored my question in another thread after I answered yours, I'll ask again - do you not think Campbell should be afforded the opportunity to correct things?
I think if he goes next season with the same “inconsistency” and “execution” with the same results and he still says, “I don’t know” when explaining said results he needs to go like Otto on “The Simpsons” when he crashed the bus. The fact that he once drove it well does not excuse him to keep crashing it every day.

30 to 40K at a game after ALL of the facility upgrades... work with donors...and a light crowd in CyTown come game day. That sounds exactly like what JP would like his swan song to be.
JP isn't going to tolerate back to back to back crappy football.... ie 21, 22, 23.

Also, just because we did it in the past doesn't mean it is guaranteed in the future. People have more things than ever competing for their entertainment dollars, more ways to watch games, and many have reduced disposable income thanks to the inflation we have seen the last few years.

That delayed run following the early turnover was the CSP explosive bucket time out none of us needed.
F*ck I despised that only ISU coach I have ever seen that didn't want to get Hilton rocking.

So YOU want to make the decision as to who gets fired. It really isn’t Campbell’s decisions when you dictate and demand what Campbell is to do.
I want him to get his team's to play competitive, entertaining, and disciplined football. Doing so will probably result in some nice victories.

His arrogance and ineptitude regarding offense, special teams, and game/time management in year 7 at a P5 school is unacceptable and insulting to the fans. I've seen better disciplined D3 and NAIA teams.

Yes he turned it into quite a tomb much in the same way McD did. Of course they are both nice guys so let’s be sure to mention that when their respective cult of sycophants take offense to any mention of their shortcomings.

I do actually think CSP is a very nice guy. It’s also still a fact that he holds the worst season record in Iowa State history.

It sounds like Jack Trice was very similar this last Saturday to CSP's Hilton atmosphere at the end. Probably for a lot of the same reasons.

For being a school of science and technology, a lot of ISU's fanbase sure is incapable of having rational discussion around pattern recognition.

Joefrog you got $100k payout in Vegas waiting for you if Campbell gone before next season. And do you work? Cause it seems like your daily non stop passion is his demise. I'm critical, and full of poor grammar (especially after too much bourbon) about his stubbornness but dam*.

Matt is one of the most professional coaches out there when it comes to not throwing people under the bus publicly.
I mean... isn't this exactly what he's doing lately? Saying that we're failing to execute is essentially putting it 100% on the players. When he says, "We think we're making the right calls, but are failing to execute!" he is essentially saying that the coaches are making the right calls and preparing properly, but the players aren't following through.

It goes far beyond special teams.

Being halfway decent at special teams shouldn't require a coach imo. Just emphasize it to make fundamentals a hallmark of the program.
Agree however Special Teams is a piece that needs dedicated oversight and dedicated accountability. Righ now who is responsible, who is accountable? .... And lease don't say CMC. The offense and O line have struggled, those coaches are responsible an will need to account for their results. If Tom Manning and O line coach have responsibilities on special teams and their "paid" department is in shambles, I'd think they are spending their time on the must haves that thay are in control of?

Here are some quotes from a DM Register article today from CMC regarding the offense:

"With Iowa State last in the Big 12 most statistical categories and ranked 110th nationally in scoring, there’s a natural inclination to wonder if something is structurally or philosophically wrong with the Cyclones’ offense.

That, though, is not what coach Matt Campbell says he sees when he watches film of his team.

“With that, you see inept, an inability to function,” Campbell said of a hypothetical fundamentally flawed group. “Those aren’t our issues. Where we’re at offensively, it’s been the inconsistency.”

"“It’s not the call. It’s not the play. They are all there,” Campbell said. “It’s the execution of it. Those are things that continue to lead to inconsistency. That’s the hard thing about it and the frustrating thing about it.

Even has the players spouting the exact same thing. Per Noel - "“It wasn’t the play call. It was just us executing the play, being able to pick up the right blocks and do our right assignments to be able to execute that play.” Also - "“Knowing that it’s the execution part, knowing that it’s something we can fix and hold ourselves accountable for is in a way a good thing because we know we can go back and fix it.”

CMC is doubling/tripling down on his offense and play-calling. Given this, I expect to see little change for next year (staff, offense plays, scoring, and ultimately record). I guess he has now watched the tape and has decided it is not his system that is at fault. Unsurprising to say the least.

Regardless, those are the coaches that can't get the offense to functional. They've made one player change. Pulling Miller who couldn't do anything but be big. Downing and Simmons have been awful as well. Simmons came in as a Center, those two should of been flipped just to see if it helps. Really don't need to hear I'll trust the coaches because it just isn't working.

I think the 2 biggest problems on offense are:
1) how they are coaching/teaching the guys to execute isn't working - especially the OL
2) the overall management of the offensive scheme seems, let's say, "unsophisticated"

That's all about who is in charge doing the coaching on offense.
We'll see, but I'm not sure this coaching staff can correctly self critique. While I want to stay tuned with how Campbell handles this adversity, I am not hopeful he will do what needs to be done.

Sad. I'll probably be back, but think I need to stay away for awhile. It's pretty painful.
