I wish coaches didn't have to ever talk to the press, because all you get is coach speak. 9 times out of 10, coach speak is bad when your team is doing poorly. His quotes literally mean nothing to what he may or may not do this off-season.

I feel like the execution part is damning for him. Doesn't sound like a coach accepting his medicine.
Maybe there are plays/schemes that our current personnel could execute better than what Manning keeps trying to run over and over? Maybe not, but jeesh...it's easy to see the fan frustration when we keep attempting identical things we've repeatedly failed at.
The key to a solid run game is the OL. A Mike Warren can be effective with a good line blocking for him.
Plus, I think this staff has an eye for RB talent.
100% agree. I'm on record here that if we don't make some changes in the way we approach the offensive side of the football, I probably won't renew my 6 season tickets. I have not enjoyed myself watching this type of football and these losses. If that makes me a bad fan, so be it. But its my money and why am I spending thousands of my dollars to watch something that isn't enjoyable.
Outside of Hassel's dumb pokes at ISU, he is super knowledgeable and knows what he's talking about - even when it comes to ISU as his job is to prepare and call games. You may not like him personally but his message is 100% spot on in assessing ISU.
I also have 6 tickets that wont be renewed if changes are not made.
Which is why I am absolutely incensed with what I am seeing. You see it, Hassel sees it, our opponents surely see it.
They know CampbellBall to a T and now respond accordingly.
They know with their talent and execution, they'll have fewer mistakes than us, and still win in a KF style slugfest. They own the margins.
That's where we are. Our opponents don't even bother covering a player wide open at the goal line because they know ISU will shift him inside.
Over $4million just this year to see hardly any adjustments offensively. Just continuing to lose in the margins.
I appreciated the high years as well, but this thing is going to end badly if drastic staff changes are not made.
I have posted a lot about the offensive woes, so no need to repeat everything. I listen to the postgame most games and locker room show as well. Last week a receiver made the comment when answering (basically) "the offense moved the ball well today, why? (major paraphrasing here)" It wasn't much, but the part that caught my ear was "basically made things more simple". I think maybe there is too much reading of defenses for route adjustments by both rec and qb and it is too much for them. Idk, but I could see it get very complicated for guys and maybe Dekkers trusts X to make the right adjustments more than the other guys.
No matter the problem, it's the COACHES need to be able to eat humble pie and look in the mirror at why this was such a ********. Myers has to go. Manning can be OL coach, but finding a more creative OC is important, but I don't see that happening.

Since you ignored my question in another thread after I answered yours, I'll ask again - do you not think Campbell should be afforded the opportunity to correct things?

Absent that, there is absolutely no reason to believe any significant changes will be made, and thus we can expect similar, or worse, results moving forward.
If success rides on having a top 3 rounds NFL draft caliber running back to be above .500, well I have bad news for people.......

Gilbert was a highly-rated kicker out of HS. But he appears to have lost confidence mentally. Kind of rare to recover from that once it's in your head (Chuck Knoblauch.)
I enjoy watching an elite defense, I enjoy watching a higher number of players get the chance to make a career out of playing football than in any other coaching staff in my lifetime. (Surprisingly most on Offense) Even with a disappointing team record and crappy weather, I enjoyed tailgating on Saturday and cheering for this team with those who are passionate about our school regardless of the W-L record.
I have at times really enjoyed the offensive execution and at others scratched my head wondering what we were thinking. I do like our playstyle, when it works, unfortunately we need to figure something else out when we get close to the goal line.
I am optimistic that CMC recruits high character players that truly want to be here and that do not appear on the police blotter after a disappointing result on the field. I am optimistic CMC will make changes, whether they will fix the issues remains to be seen, as he did after the ND pummeling. I am optimistic that CMC will find some key pieces to fill obvious gaps prior to next season just like he found Mevis, X, and Reeder in the last couple of years.
I could continue, however, it appears you have already gone full chicken little so I doubt any of this will alter your perspective.

Garret Owens was good. Our two best kickers in the Campbell era were grad-transfers. Might be worth going that route again.
