Did he ever get flagged for an illegal block that was called a roach clip?Tom Roach. Ran for an 80 yard TD in a 69-0 beatdown of Colorado State in 1980. I see he passed away in 2015. RIP

He was main RB backup for Crutchfield, in '81, right?Running Back Tommy Davis (not Troy). Got to meet him when I was a kid.
I don't know if a clip of that exists, but my memory is he caught a pass, did a stutter-step then a 180 the other direction, left defender in the turf, and sprinted for the TD. I think it was 12-7 at the time and that score pretty much sealed it.Frankie Leaks. His TD catch against Iowa ranks among the greatest ever.
Yep. Good memory.I don't know if a clip of that exists, but my memory is he caught a pass, did a stutter-step then a 180 the other direction, left defender in the turf, and sprinted for the TD. I think it was 12-7 at the time and that score pretty much sealed it.
(And ISU didn't win CyHawk again until '98).
Worked in the athletic department as a student and sat in the press box next to Lou McCoullogh. After Leaks’ move, Lou and a couple of Iowa State beat reporters got up and cheered. Then the gutless Iowa SID threatened to kick Lou out for cheering, which we knew you can’t do in a working press box. From that point on I made a vow to always hate the Hawks.I don't know if a clip of that exists, but my memory is he caught a pass, did a stutter-step then a 180 the other direction, left defender in the turf, and sprinted for the TD. Was thinking of the “ Land Shark”. Nice.Early Cyclone memories for me include Tommy Davis, Jr., and the "Land Shark" John Arnaud (may he RIP).
