Last time I'll chime in here...

The great thing about messages boards is that regardless of your opinion, YOU HAVE A VOICE TOO. Think the negative Nancy's are being too loud? Say something!

Chances are that if you feel one way, somebody else out there feels that way too.

Its a two edge sword, if you want a rabid, supportive fanbase you are going to have to deal with it. You are not going to find 60,000 people to fill Jack Trice 6/7 times a year who are just going to watch a program go 5-19 over 2 years and be happy.

Should we rag on recruits and players? No, should we question coaching? Yes

Didn't ISU almost lose Nigel Tribune to Indiana due to the message boards?

I believe some guys were bashing his freshman game tape or something.

This has no similarity or correlation with people calling a spade a spade with our program being 5-19 the past 23 games.

Some people (OP) want to assign blame absolutely everywhere but where it actually should go (to the top).

Frankly if you win nonconference slate and two or three conference games the ******** would be way down. You cannot survive winning two or three games a year. Anyone can do that by luck. Look at Indiana. Wait. They beat Misery.

Put this into practice. Try it.

If you do not have something good to say, say NOTHING AT ALL.

I'm sure CW will love that.

Maybe just shut the site down? That might be best for Paul Rhoads and his program. Give them the edge they need to get to 3 or 4 wins.

Yep, lets all just stop talking because there is nothing nice to say about this football program. You sir are part of the losing culture at ISU. YOU are the problem. Not the people who want to see this program succeed and are pasionate with our time spent at games and donations given.

Absolutely.

Someone bashing a recruit or a player specifically without justification or beyond where it crosses the line? Say something.

But the coaches and the program are not immune to legitimate criticism and with all the problems in this program right now I think this message board is about the 1,000th thing in line for fixing.

If CF is hurting team morale, perhaps the team should spend less time on CF and more time in the weight room strengthening and conditioning themselves to gain more muscle mass and prevent injury, and working on technique so they can block and tackle better.

Obviously an overly simplistic view, but when our players suffer as many injuries as they do, when they are completely outsized by FCS opponents, and the team might very well be the worst technical team in the nation...

No.....the bashing of Nigel Tribune was prior to him signing his LOI. There was negativity on the Boards constantly saying he did not have enough stars and did not warrant a scholarship offer. Nigel Tribune almost signed with Indiana as a result. It took a helluva job of recruiting by Rhoads and the staff to get him signed to an LOI.

So bottom line is that the negative posters on this board do NOT HELP the football program, they hurt it. These negative posters talk of taking their fan support elsewhere.........and the football program would be better off if they did go somewhere else.

And that is "just telling it like it is" as so many of you put it.

There's a difference between being critical for legitimate reasons and either becoming obsessive about convincing the whole internet about problems within a program, or making up reasons to have an excuse to be upset about something.

Cyclone Fanatic could be called the face of Cyclone fanbase. At worst, it is a litmus test of the Cyclone fan.

I see 2 very plausible scenarios where this site could hurt recruiting.

1) A recruit wants to know more about the school they may attend. Where would a young player turn to find information? Probably the internet. This is the most prominent message board for Iowa State sports, so I would assume they would be reading information here.

2) Rival coaches will use any means necessary to persuade a recruit to go to their school. Why would they not point a recruit here during meltdowns.

As for team morale. I'm guessing they know what the fans are saying. Sure it hurts morale, but it's part of the game. Kind of like politics.

A better solution would be for the negative fans to spend less time on CF.

Yep, 1 example sure proves we are the problem with the program. Fans like you are the reason this program can't move forward. You sit back and pass the buck to anyone but the people that need to be accountable. We as fans shouldn't be bashing prospective players. That I agree with. But to say we shouldn't call out the team and staff after 2 horse **** campaigns is beyond insane.

No......Paul Rhoads literally said someone got a hold of old gametape and criticized it. That's what happened. I never said it was after he signed..... I meant his freshman tape as a high schooler... might've been sophomore tape.

The rest of it is exactly what I was saying. Not sure what you are getting at.

There is a big difference between attacking the skills of a high school kid and calling out the coach of the worst BCS football school in the nation the past two years for doing what he has done. One is absolutely not cool, one is absolutely the right of people who pay to go watch these games, the people who create the atmosphere that Paul Rhoads uses to sell ISU to his recruits.
