I support the first game of the year on Thursday nights and would support a conference Thursday night game on ESPN for the obvious reasons.

I don't want to become what Colorado has done the past couple years where they play like all their non-conference games on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays, etc. to assure they be televised.

GREAT IDEA! If they could get this deal, then I would be for another Thursday night game.

Sorry, but that makes no sense to me. What's ESPN's motivation for showing our opener vs. Directional Midwestern State University on a Thursday night? There are plenty of other schools that would be more than willing to let ESPN carry one of their conference games on a Thursday night without carrying their opener on a Thursday as well.

How many other CFB games are televised on that first Thursday? (I'm asking because I really don't know b/c I'm at the ISU game.) I'm guessing there aren't too many games being played that day - that might be motivation for ESPN to 'kick-off' their CFB coverage.

Whaddathink?

I could be wrong, but I think other games have been televised on that night. I'm not saying we couldn't get it on ESPN once in a while, but I don't see it happening on a yearly basis, and I certainly don't see how ISU has any leverage to make ESPN carry it as part of a deal to put a conference game on a Thursday later in the year.

There were 9 games played last Sept 3rd, not sure how many were televised.
2 were on ESPN, 1 on ESPNU, and 1 on the Mtn.

I love tailgating on Saturdays over rushing home from work to go to the game and dragging my behind all day on Friday, BUT another Thursday night game that would be nationally televised would be great for the program so I had to say yes.

I only support the thursday game if its televised and getting us a paycheck. Doing it every so often (or every other year) for the opening game is one thing... but every year favors one group of fans every year and slights another.

The "attendance on labor day weekend" statistics show that it is at best a wash for whether putting it on a thursday actually increases attendance, so if we're not on TV, let's get it back on saturday, the traditional game for college football.

I didnt much like the thursday game as a student, and i definitely dont like it now that i'm away from ames. It kills the tailgating atmosphere as half the crowd is rushing just to make it in time for kickoff.

On a side note, with two 09 bowl teams in the opening game, one would think that we would have a decent chance of tv either way, wouldnt we?

Thursday games can be inconvenient, but the good of the program must be considered first and foremost. A national TV audience on a network that people actually watch is a good thing which we should be endorsing and supporting.

I think most people are on board with this. The problem is, being on thursday hasnt gotten us on TV for our opener.

I voted yes.

Any TV games we can guaranteee are worth it.

If people are upset about multiple Thursday games, then they need to drop the Thursday opener and take the Thursday conference game.

I would love to see ISU on ESPN and I think it is long overdue for the Big 12 to push for some Thursday night games. It is a great slot with no other football on and I would watch B12 games every week on Thursday if they were on. As it is I watch the Big East and sometimes the MAC games when they are on Thursday nights.

When someone asks you if you want to be on ESPN you say YES!

Seriously, we should never turn down the chance to get a game on ESPN. I don't care if it is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, whatever. If they say we can play at a certain time and get on the air, we do it.

People always throw out the money and exposure issues for obstacles to advancing our program, this increases both. It may inconvenience some fans, which sucks, but if you really want to ***** about it, be sure to make your check out to the ISU AD for $300k first.

As for the season opener, if we can finally find a way to get it on TV on Thursday great, if not, we might as well move it back to Saturday.

It would be awesome to have a road game on a thursday night.

This would be tight, but who do we play on the road this year that would have to accept a Thursday night game to get on TV? Maybe Colorado?

-K-State: I assume with the Arrowhead deal that moving it to Thursday isn't an option.
-Texas/Oklahoma: I assume these games will have no trouble getting tv coverage on a Saturday either way. Maybe if OU looks to have another down year, but that still seems unlikely.

I hate the Thursday games but I have always said if they were on good TV (Such as ESPN) it is something we should be doing.

It's not ideal for tailgating, but exposure and money rule the day. I'm for it as long as it comes with those benefits.

And it could end up being road games, I'm completely fine if we get to watch our game against Texas or OU this coming season on a Thursday night. However, I assume unlikely those teams would be the ones asked to flex their schedule.

Good point. If we can get a Thursday road game on TV that would be awesome. Lately we have had issues getting sme of our road on real TV (not internet). To upgrade to ESPN would be sweet.
