Because Colvin didn't leave the state for a week and show calculated blatent disregard for the team. Colvin walked out in the heat of the moment and he too was suspended.

Really they are not similar anyway. What would make them similar is if Colvin would have walked out and not been suspended at all.

You don't seem to get it...the rationale for lifting Colvin's suspension so early compared to the penalty that was initially handed down was, and I paraphrase here "it's not fair to the team, especially a guy like CB, because we are so shorthanded".

Sure, the 'crime' that yielded the penalty is going to differ...each situation is unique. What has not changed is what the rationale for lifting the suspension on Colvin...we are still shorthanded.

Am I to assume that GM no longer cares about being shorthanded and what the rest of the team thinks about it just a few short weeks after he made his comments bringing Colvin back? Or, am I to think he has just given up on this season and really doesn't care about W/Ls because he has us by the balls with the great (for him) contract he signed?

Right, they are not the same situation in so many ways. In fact, very few infractions are the same. There are unique circumstances in almost every situation. Treating individuals and the team fairly in no way means treating them the same. People who don't understand this are not well suited to be a manager, supervisor, or coach. Either that or they know better, but are simply trying to stir up trouble.

One of the best personnel gurus that I have worked with taught me to apply the stomach acid test - just how much grief is one willing to put up with before they draw the line. Some get a little more slack because the potential to straighten out is clearly present. Some are trouble with a capital T and need to be handled with a firmer hand. The ultimate goal to remember when dealing with inappropriate behavior is to be able to change such behavior. Sometimes an extension of confidence is the best option - other times a swift kick in the rear yields the best results.

Maybe you should refer your 'personnel guru' to GM...hahaha!!

This is a really really easy answer.

Colvin did everything right during his suspension. He had, from my point of view, met everything asked of him, so it was logical and reasonable to cut it short.

Dendy hasn't met any conditions of his suspension, since he was just suspended.

this, like almost every other complaint about McDermott, is a symptom of losing, not the cause. If we win, this isn't an issue.

when we put colvin back in we still thought we had an outside chance to salvage the season. now we know it is in the toilet so why leave it to stink up the room? just flush it and put it out of its misery.

Really? What part don't I get? Is it the part where COlvin did everything coach and team thought he needed to do to get back? Is it the part where hwas a actually suspended for a couple weeks and did miss games and every time someone talked to him he sounded like a completely different person. Maybe it is the part where Colvin walked out on the team after one very disappointing lose in Chicago where as Dendy was gone for a week and missed two games without letting anyone in sufficient time the funeral was moved back.

You make it sound as if Colvin was never suspended. That is not the case. So, under your ridiculous comparison of the two situations, what if Dendy is suspended for two weeks and then is reinstated because he does earn the trust back? Would that not be the same thing? I submit that it would.

Look....we don't know when/if Dendy will play again this year. He might play on Saturday for all we know.

Let's look at the two funeral situations. Gilstrap's uncle dies. Gilstrap leaves one day returns 2 days later and does not miss a game. Dendy's great grandma dies. Dendy leaves one day returns more than a week later and misses two games. The weather and a change in funeral dates complicate things, but all he had to do was phone the coaches and talk about his options. And then decide if he could stay or what. It kind of seems like Dendy was sick of basketball and needed a break. I'm sure the other players and coaches wouldn't mind a break either.

Remember CB supposedly telling GMac that he had no choice? Colvin was not brought back because of his good behavior. If you believe that then you have to say that if Boozer and Lucca had continued to play, then Colvin would still have been brought back early, and I don't think anyone really believes that and there certainly was no indication of that at the time.

Maybe Dendy has already told McD that he will not be back and will take care of hids family.
