Tough luck, if true that the Lakers are looking to sign Jeremy Lin from the Rockets.

I think they'll choose DeAndre over Nash and Marshall. Kane will be the backup.

lets not pretend that Lin is an all star though. Pat Beverley beat out Lin in Houston. Kane can beat out all 3 of the PGs.

Lin makes lots of mistakes. He was not the second coming of the messiah for the rockets.

Kane isn't really a PG anyway. He's just a ball player. Similar to Lance Stephenson. Put him anywhere 1-3 and the guy can play.

Marshall is pretty good and nash is a future hall of famer. I dont see kane as the backup pg imo. Hope im wrong

If you trade for Lin and pay him millions, you are going to keep him on your team.

I can't think of a worse deal than obtaining Jeremy Lin for what he costs. That would be a stupid move for L.A.

I don't know that any transaction makes it tougher for Summer League guys to make the team. So few of these guys make teams, much less play, that it's almost impossible from the start.

That said, Kane can play in the NBA. He's got the game. Getting the legitimate opportunity is the sticking point, since he's apparently Methusaleh old.

Kane is better than Marshall. Nash hasn't been good for 3 years. He might not even play a game this year. Lin is really the only thing standing in the way of Kane making the roster. It's going to be Marshall vs. Kane for the 3rd PG spot and I EXPECT Kane to win. (the Lakers can't dump Nash's contract. Otherwise they would.)

Who on the team is backing up kobe? I thought I read they viewed him as a combo guard that could back up Kobe and play point when needed.

He has an expiring contract and they have cap space, meaning he fills a spot this year and they save money for next year's free agent group. Silly, but they have money they need to spend.

The Lakers are a trainwreck. I want Kane to get a shot to play but wouldn't be upset if it were elsewhere.

Get a free first round pick out of it, the Lakers aren't going to be good next year anyway, why not do the deal?

Which is kind of surprising to me. I think the Lakers should tank, get a pick, and then go after some in FA. They're the Lakers with Randle and another good player they could get a star FA because they're the Lakers.

The Lakers also drafted a pg in Jordan Clarkson so he's going to be competing for a roster spot too.

Plus I'm sure the Lakers know Houston is desperate to make cap room for Bosh (it's no coincidence that LA is suddenly interested in acquiring Lin). They can try to snag at least a 2nd Rounder from Houston out of this. They're not getting Melo and potentially losing Pau, next year is another waiting year for them anyway.

I'd rather have Kane than Nash. Nash looks like he should be in a retirement home.
