I made it all the way through this thread until i saw this. Ummm...do we haev a game breaker at WR?Thomas is a senior. He gone. Why is Texas going to be unstoppable? Mizzou doesn't look to have a game breaker at receiver going forward.
A lot of people seem to forget we will have a new QB, a new C, a new LG, a new TE a new WR, and a new starting RB. That is replacing 6 of 11 starters on an offense that was bad. Now that could be good if those guys were replaced with better players but those guys were actually the best players on offense.
- Lose our best QB-We will have a QB battle between a JUCO that doesn't know the system, a QB that has seen some action and has been less than impressive, a late recruiting pick up whose parent says sits on a knee at practice, a RS Frosh that has had injury problems and some true Frosh.
- We replace our best lineman who also was our center. The staff is so confident in his RS Frosh replacement that they brought in a JUCO. We also lose our LG who was a three year starter. Not a great player but a solid OL. Our best returning OL is penalty prone, regressed this year, and may just leave.
- Lose our best WR and TE-Our WR corp is not good and we lose our best pass catcher at TE. Between drops, inability to get off the line, poor downfield blocking, and inability to make plays after the catch, our WRs are below average. There are some guys with potential but hey have yet to produce consistently. They will continue to get hyped this winter and next spring but we have not had an above average receiver in a very long time (Hamilton may be the best we have had). I don't care who the QB is until we get WR that can consistently catch the damn ball and block downfield.
- RB we should be solid but if the OL can't block, it doesn't matter. Look at Arobs production decrease this year.
- We have the same OC who is stilll learning what it is like to play with the big boys.
- I haven't even discussed defense because I think Wally will continue to grow that defense even though we lose a NFL caliber safety and still have no pass rush. The defense really won't matter if this offense continues to struggle
In the end, next year is critical for ISU football. If we can beataTm, Texas and TT again we will help create coaching issues and instability in the state of Texas which bodes well for recruiting. the iowa game is huge as we could start their season off on a bad note and the fan base could get restless. This only helps grow our fanbase. Beat KU to keep them down and beat KSU and urge Snyder out the door.
