no expert here, but aren't stars likely assigned based on interest? - or do these experts know all and see all? Hypothetically if Iowa and Iowa State show interest in an Iowa Kid - automatically 2 stars - Nebbie and Mizzou jump in and now its a 3 star, Michigan and a couple more and now you have a high 3 or even a 4. Pretty simple process in a state that only produces 10 or so high D1 players per year. Then Iowa State offers a couple kids from Texas and Florida they know about and apparently since no one else had offered yet they had no stars - even though there are dozens of prospects? Big deal, get over it already, sure we would rather beat some top programs for some top talent, but outside of beating Iowa for some recruits in state from time to time, it just doesn't happen that often. Gotta trust in the identify the talent early and develop it model. Its probably the best way to compete with schools that have better geography or more history
