Is the Daytona 500 always on the same day every year?
If so I'm not seeing the weirdness, maybe you can talk me through this one...

Yeah, because we all know that going around and turning left for the first 190laps is real good racing.
What a finish! That's the great thing about about plate racing...those finishes are possible. Too bad about Tony, he had the car today...just not any luck.
And to the brianhos...all I can say is "Nice pants".
Go to a NASCAR race and you will see there aren't a lot of Hillbillies...and why? Can Hillbillies afford $300 per ticket (which was the cost for the 500) or when I went to Kansas tickets were $125...
But hey...ignorance is bliss right?

And what do you suggest I wear to games when it is 15 degrees? Shorts? They are frickin burton snowboard pants, they actually are quite nice.
DirecTV Hotpass rocks. I don't care what the Fox Broadcasters say about Busch not being able to lift, he spun Smoke, he even said he did. I just hope Smoke doesn't turn into an Earnhardt, 20yrs to win the 500. All in all, HELLUVA RACE
That's kinda why I was pulling for Martin at the end. That man has now gone 23 years trying and still doesn't have a Daytona500 win.
On the other hand I still enjoy see an RCR car win. It was a helluva race indeed :yes4lo:
When the AMA rewrites the rules so that Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, Ducati, and MV Agusta (and anyone else who wants to play) all race exactly the same bike, while allowing them to put their own name on it, and are subjected to so many rules that the bikes CAN'T be significantly faster or slower than one another, then race the bikes on tracks where there is no accelerating, no decellerating, and no braking. AND........
Just for good measure, every once in awhile they'll make everybody slow down for a pace car and bunch up so they don't get too far apart. (WHAT THE HELL IS A "COMPETITION YELLOW") Nothing like regrouping the feild. Yeah that's RACING (rolleyes)
That's when you'll see 29 bikes turning laps within 2 seconds of one another over and over. Sounds great, huh?
There's a reason why road racing is so much cooler than circle track racing - but you have to pay attention and think for yourself rather than just buying the BS that ASSCAR and FauxSports sells you. Oh and the cars have pretty, bright colored paint. LMFAO

I don't believe it is on the same day every year. I think it is the second to last Sunday of every February, but I could be wrong on that. Either way, the exact date isn't the same.
The exact date of the Daytona500 each year may not be the same. But Senior did die on the 18th, and todays 500 was on the 18th.
Did anyone else get annoyed with Fox going to commercial break literally every 10-12 laps?! My god, people missed 2 of the major wrecks! I hope it isn't going to be like that every race...

I know I was getting really tired of the Chevy President's Day Sale commercial. That's been on every channel all weekend :baffled5wh:
This was one of the main complaints about NBC (Nothing But Commercials) before they were dropped. Fox is just as bad, IMO. Its gotten worse and worse over the past few years. At some point, the frequency of the commercial breaks are going to bring about diminishing returns. People like ME will start DVRing the races and start watching them about an hour after they start so that I can skip through all the commercials. Not even sure if an hour will be enough lead time with all the breaks they took today.
Not a Nascar fan or hater, just observe every now and then. I certainly do not consider Nascar a sport or the drivers athletes. However, they certainly do have some mad skills. They get paid millions of dollars a year to do what they do, and if it was that easy you and I would be giving it a shot, as well as all the other drivers that race in other forms of racing. Nascar may be boring to some but obviously not as boring as other forms of racing as they are never on tv. The crowds that attend Nascar races are second to none.
