To say NASCAR isn't a sport or the drivers aren't athletes is silly. You may not like it, it's obvious it's a sport (see the definition of sport).

How many fat NASCAR drivers do you see? So if golfers are athletes, then the drivers definitely are too. (This coming from a golf fan as well) Also, you try to go 3.5 hours in a car without going to the bathroom! :wink0st:

They are athletes when they can skid across the finish line upside down. That was terrific driving skill. They can be considered athletes when they slide half a mile on fire, flip over at end, and jump out through the dirt inside to escape. They are athletes when they rip up their transmission after they win the race like Harvick did. And they can be old also as was mark martin and athletic.
 
Yeah, and only an athlete could drive a car with Viagra plastered all over it and still face the good 'ole boys back home.
