Cyclones in the pros 2023-2024 (hoops)

That article is a long one but REALLY good.

It doesn't seem that THT's start to the season has won over observers in Utah - I think he's now out of the starting line-up - and this is one of the harshest pieces I've seen:

His (traditional) stats so far:

I found Marial Shayok a couple weeks ago. He did not return to the G League, where he put up big numbers for the Maine Celtics last year. He's playing in China for the Shandong Heroes (does their offense feature a lot of "hero ball"?). Through 7 games, he's averaging 20 points and hitting 40% from 3PT.

He might be running out of chances. He’ll get a few opportunities, but feel like all that George’s has, THT lacks.

The raw potential, talent, and youth may be giving out to teammate and playing within the flow of the game.

I think a lot of us questioned THT’s actual ceiling early on, but the NBA guys kept saying it’s just about to show. It still hasn’t.
I think Horton-Tucker hit his ceiling. He's a below average athlete by NBA standards for a 6'-2" to 6'-3" guy and never developed a great outside shot. He plays like he did at Iowa State. He can score in bunches at times and make some plays with his passing, but he's terribly inefficient, and is so-so defensively due to a lack of lateral quickness.

He is a 50/40/90 shooter this year and nearly that for his career, which is literally the whole grail of efficiency.
