Country Music

Used to hate country back when I was younger (didn't like the twangy sound). Started dating a girl (my current wife) who listened to it and I got hooked. I have one of the widest array of musical taste known to man. Love generally everything, including country and rap. Only thing I can't do is death metal.
Favorite country artists are definitely Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney, Faith Hill's husband (also known as Tim McGraw) btw Faith Hill is hot.
Song suggestion if you haven't heard it: Redneck Yacht Club by Craig Morgan, also love Awful Beautiful Life by Daryl Worley, and even Paint me a Birmingham by Tracy Lawrence. Just to name a few.

The crap that is spewed out of Nashville is essentially un-listen-able.

I am quite an Alt-Country fan however.

Ryan Adams
Whiskeytown
Wilco
Son Volt
Gram Parsons
National Grain

etc.

Have you listened to Halfway to Hazzard? They are kinda alt country I believe

Hmm I must say I don't care for recent trends in country music but I wasn't really a fan of alternative country the few times I heard it. Though to be fair I've hardly heard any of it so it's hard to judge...

I don't understand the hate for Reba... I like a number of her songs. Really like some of her duets like "If You See Him", "The heart won't Lie" and "Does he love you?"

Liked some of the older Rascal Flats songs, praying for Day Light, Fast Cars and Freedom, etc. Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, some Tim McGraw, some Kenny Chesney (some, not all... gets a little popish for me sometimes, other times he does pretty good), Tracy Byrd.... throw in some random other stuff from mid-late 80's to early 90's...

And of course Johny Cash. Again too many more to list... I should be working

Side note though, not sure who sings it but anyone else a fan of the "Harper Valley PTA" song?

Great Song and true for many of us....

Some of Brad Paisley's songs are absolutely hilarious. "Alcohol" - which you had the youtube link to - then there's "Me Neither", "It Never Woulda Worked Out Anyway", and "I'm Gonna Miss Her".

Those last three songs make me belly laugh.

Great list. I also love Old 97's. I wish I'd heard the song "Question" before we picked the first dances at our wedding (although we had some pretty awesome choices!). [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQnKBWkk_4M"]LINK[/ame]

Thanks for contributing absolutely nothing to this thread!

I listen to most kinds of music and country is in my top 2.

Is the other type Western? :biglaugh:

Sorry. I couldn't resist putting in a good Blues Brothers reference.

Used to be that I couldn't stand country music but have grown to tolerate it.

What is good/hot in England these days for music?

They are playing Raisin' McCain back here.

I actually think it's a catchy tune for a politcial song to be honest. I'm looking forward to John Rich's solo album coming out later this year. The man has wrote a ton of big hits for others. John Rich (musician - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

I like country, and I also like other types of music too, except most rap.

Favorite artists include...
Big and Rich
Dierks Bentley
Carrie Underwood
Toby Keith
Trace Adkins
Alabama
Garth Brooks

And lots of others too....

I do like the new stuff.

Sorry, but i won't let country have Cash  he'll always be blues/rock to me.

the only country star i like is Dwight Yoakam. Mainly cuz i think he's cool, and he doesn't try to be anything else but country. I feel that most country singers today are just failed Rock stars.

And i know that rock and punk has a few bands that sing about rediculous things, but i don't know how you can take a song seriously when they sing about 4x4s and crap like that.
