COLUMN: "Transfer U" is all grown up

Thomas and Naz are currently 6th and 7th in career threes. That will be fun to see where they end up and how awesome is it that they'll play on the same team for 4 years.

GREAT writeup by Chris, however I disagree about the lighting. While it's nice to have a brigher court, it reminds me more of a place like Tech where they have to lower the lighting on the crowd because no one shows up. On TV it made it look like we were hiding empty seats. I think it was better when we had more lights on the crowd as it showed how full Hilton is on ESPN. Also have heard some complains fans in the seats had trouble reading the banners.

Hope they find a happy medium.

Well it wasn't a big crowd and there weren't a lot of students. So...

But when big games roll around, it's awesome to see (not just hear) fans go nuts on TV. That's part in the reason why most people in the college hoops world revere Hilton.

Very true. We'll see if they make any changes over the next few games.

I have known this for some time, this thread just cements it. We here at CF can ***** about anything. The lighting of the court looked great, the cameras will still be able to show the crowd when necessary. This looks so much more well lit.

Wonder if the players had anything to say about it.

The new lights are a pain in the eyes. I need to remember a hat to keep the direct glare out of my eyes.

As a number of others have said, when viewing on TV, the visibility of the fans in the game action camera views helps "bring to life" the effect of the crowd for the viewers during the action. The way game audio is done now (thanks ABC/ESPN), you don't really get the effect of the crowds through the audio. On TV anyway, now Hilton just looks like another sterile NBA arena, with this darkish ubiquitous dungeon look surrounding the game floor.

Just as an aside, If you are curious what I mean about game audio, below is an old clip from the NBA on NBC. The video is bad, but the audio is great. You can hear the crowd swell as Horry grabs the loose ball, and Marv gets completely drowned out after Horry hits the game winner. The crowd lighting is pretty good here too. Great interview with Horry at the end. He is one of my favorite NBA players.

So.....how do you suggest the topic is discussed? It seems pretty clear to me that people who discussed it in this appropriate location all were civil about their opinions with reasoning to back up their opinions. Who was actually "********" about it?
