Nothing says, "commitment to building a program" like a bargain.
My thoughts exactly. It's kind of sickening that the guy wants to take this chance. I bet he's riding the "Well, I was right about Hoiberg!" wave right now.

It would appear he was on vacation this past week with his family. (source: his twitter account)
I'd be interested to hear Jeremy or CW's take, but I don't see any circumstance where the ISU coach makes less than $1.25M.
There are some really silly people on here.
Count me in. He couldn't get the Drake job, but now all of a sudden he's fit for the ISU job after ISU goes to 4 straight NCAA tournaments?
As early as Tuesday? Makes one think JP got his way and we start the TJ tenure of ISU MBB. Does he break $1 million/year?
This is why Gregg Marshall is best case scenario for us. He is kind of a jerk to the media, but the man gets results and his kids bust their azzes off for him. From what I hear Fred is a good guy, but I've also seen a lot of good guys be huge flops as coaches as well. I think the media gave Fred a little too much credit because he was a good guy. Not to say he was a bad coach, but I think they care more about being likable than winning games. This isn't a tea party where everybody needs to get along. We need a winner.
Go Cyclones!
maybe but the 5 known guys shouldn't make more than a million.
He is a great guy. Media doesn't care if he has the worst resume in the Big 12.

So it's impossible to be both a good coach and likeable?
If Fred wasn't a good coach there wouldn't have been a meltdown over him leaving.
Yeah. I just don't get it. Fine he's a good guy but that means nothing about how good of a coach you are. There's literally zero proof he knows how to be a head coach, especially at a power 5 school.
Are people seriously high?
Based on what? The job pays what it pays, regardless of what you think the candidates would be worth to you.
Not what I said. There are a lot of good guys who have become good coaches. But sometimes media tries to tell us the good guys are better coaches than they really are. The jerks don't always get the credit they deserve due to the way they treat the media. It doesn't matter your personality, just win games.
I think maybe you are. If he's hired, it's not based on a resume, it's based on almost 10 years of observing him coaching and being able to determine his strengths based on 1st hand knowledge.
But please continue with your preemptive meltdown...
those 5 aren't worth that much. Market value.
