Is Tennessee a better job than OSU?

IMO, only if they can return to their former glory days. Otherwise, job stability is worse and the money probably isn't much different. Their stadium seats 40,000 more people than Stillwater, so there's that, I guess.

It probably is easier to win in the SEC, especially the east. You'd basically be going up against Georgia and probably Florida in a few years.
Just like the big 10, when you avoid the difficult crossover games, it's pretty easy to win 6 or 7 games in conference.

The SEC and Big 10 bias from ESPN and the playoff committee probably isn't helping either. If Big 12 coaches start thinking the only way they can get into the playoff is to schedule difficult non-con, then go undefeated in conference play, while other conferences can lose 2 games, they might want out.

Might just be angling for a raise, but I thought article said he just inked a new contract this summer. Kind of crappy if true.

I think this would be bad if a successful Big 12 coach wants to jump into a dumpster fire just because it is SEC. I hope our conferences coaches are not thinking that the Big 12 is a short timer.
Relax, he’s not just jumping because it’s the SEC. Tennessee is rumored to be offering to double his salary as they are that desperate and in full panic mode.

What message does it send that a Big 12 coach (Campbell) from one of the Big 12’s toughest jobs wouldn’t even take their call?

Like I said, I'm pretty sure he's flirted before. When it happened the last time, I seem to remember thinking that there maybe were some problems between him and the Athletic Department. Did he have kind of a ****** contract before his latest extension?

I wouldn't be super sad to see him leave. We are poised to make a jump and it would be helpful to have another school starting over a bit.

If OSU lost Gundy that would really hurt their recruiting ("fat") unless T Boone could buy a really big name to replace him with. Even then...

they have to play Alabama every year on the third Saturday in October.

I don't understand what Gundy is thinking if it's true. He is OSU's football version of Hoiberg. Will Gundy Hoiberg his alma mater? Stay tuned.

It might be his DREAM to coach at TN. Why should Oklahoma State stand in the way of dreams?

It's going to be crazy how all this plays out, it seems the AAC and MAC have been raided the last few years, I'm sure there are still good coaches but guys like Campbell, Fleck, Baber and Fuentes were all over everyones radar. I mean Nebraska has one candidate in mind, what if he ends up somewhere, I'm not sure their fan base can fake excitement over another hire like they did with Riley, there will be some AD's gambling come January.

Rumor is TN offered to double his salary to 8.4mil/year. He makes 4.2mil currently and a 125,000 year increase. He just signed a new 5 year contract in June 2017. Only a 3 mil buyout.

Holy ****** ****

Edit-

Twitter says Gundy to TN is a done deal, and the players were just informed fwiw.

I see him using this as a bargaining chip to get more out of oSu. He makes 4.2mil currently and a 125,000 year increase. He just signed a new 5 year contract in June 2017. Only a 3 mil buyout.

That’s why we are incredibly lucky with 7 million as a buyout.

Honestly, I thought the new contract might lower it to the more standard 2-3 million.

If I'm a TN fan, I'm asking if Gundy was contacted before or during negotiation with Schiano.
If Gundy (or even Purdue's coach) were viable options, why did they try to hire Schiano so fast?
