Coaching Carousel

Is UF willing to throw nearly $30 mil for Campbell and his coaches?

$12 mil per McElwain's buyout
$9 mil per Campbell's buyout
$4-5 mil per year for Campbell's contract (McElwain was making just shy of $4.5 per season)
New coaching staff
UF likely isn’t paying McElwain’s full buyout.

And if CMC's agent is worth anything (and watching CMC I will bet he is), this will be played to maximize his contract update at ISU - and it should be - I hope we make him richer than snot and we can remind him of that every January at our bowl game.

Does he have an agent yet? When we hired him from Toledo he didn't have an agent and had his Attorney look over the contract.

Really doubt Chip Kelly goes to an SEC team. SEC bylaw will make it difficult since he had major violations at Oregon. Maybe UCLA or some other west coast team for him.

This paves the way for Chip Kelly to UCLA, Frost to Florida......then who the hell knows going to Tennessee and kNebraska.

As much as I enjoy the latter comment, I'd expect that if someone made a crazy run at Campbell, it would be one of those schools that have a totally over-inflated sense of self worth. I agree with others that say that they don't see him going soon.

Not sure on Riley's buy out, but if Tennessee was going to hire Campbell they would have to pay upwards of $17 million before even paying his salary ($9 mil to ISU and something like $8 for Jones' contract). Even with Tennessee money I cant see that happening, there are schools with much deeper pockets that probably wouldn't even make that move.

Then again, in 2017 I can see anything happen regarding coaching moves.

Nebraska would be paying Pelini for a little over a year and Riley until 2021

Bo Pelini is on the books through February 2019. He currently receives $128,009 per month, which was dropped from $150,000 per month after he was hired at Youngstown State. Nebraska pays the difference between what Pelini made at Nebraska and his $213,894 annual salary with the Penguins.

If Riley were to be fired? Nebraska would owe him $170,000 per month through the end of his contract, assuming he does not obtain employment elsewhere. With his contract recently extended through Feb. 28, 2021, Riley would now be owed nearly $7 million, according to Hero Sports.
