Rogers said he recruited both Kooper Ebel and Beau Goodwin while at SDSU. So maybe some of our current LB group will be good fits for the defense he wants to run.
So it will be about keeping guys like Ebel & Goodwin and really only have to address the DL in portal and JUCO's.
I did see somewhere that there were some really good WR's at Wazzu entering the portal. Hopefully they find their way to Ames
Fairly sure women's basketball does not raise their own money like wrestling, but get funds like football and men's basketball.

I've wondered how Title IX might affect all of this... if you are giving an athlete the equivalent on a scholarship in rev share... that's not a scholarship?
I'd bet it's the smallest number for a top ten team. We know it's less than our opponent this week is spending.
Dresser is pretty smart and likely would turn donors to donate to the CRTC (Cyclone Regional Training Center) if he got to the $1M. The CRTC goes to pay guys like David Carr, Marcus Coleman, Yonger Bastida (next year) to stick around and train with the athletes + go travel to tournaments on the world level.

With staff and travel costs I’m just surprised WBB doesn’t lose more money than most sports, let alone earn 50x more per athlete.
Maybe the gamble is that subsidizing it pays off in overall ISU brand awareness more than say, cross country.
So essentially wrestling is getting a special deal to avoid subsidizing other sports that is not available to football or mbb?
Honestly, I’d guess most sports could get more NIL than $1000 per athlete this way by shaking down former athletes.
Cal has fully funded endowments for a few sports this way.
Hell, I kick down money to my former D-III team.
Women's basketball, where maybe not a profit maker or super hight profile, it's a hell of a lot more high profile than wrestling to the rest of the country. I live in Illinois, no one here, except for kids who wrestle, give a darn about wrestling. There are those though who do seem to at least mention women's basketball with this being Big 10 and DePaul country. I've never been into a sports bar in my 30 years here and seen a wrestling match on TV. I've seen a lot of women's college basketball on TV, especially during the Women's NCAA tournament.

It is about as niche as you get nationally.
Couple of comments. Last Fall (when asked what changes were being made to WSU offense) CJR responded that they were incorporating "12" and "13"packages in their offense. Stated that good TE play was largely responsible for successful RPO. Also, amazing stat. CJR redshirted and then started at outside LB for 4 years and finished with 312 tackles.
Similar to the football Gridiron Club, wrestling has long had their own organization to raise donation money directly for themselves. All other sports only go through the Cyclone Club for donations. I'm not sure why wrestling is an exception but maybe because of the post graduate stuff they do. In any case it has been that way since long before NIL was ever a thing.
Part of it is that hard core wrestling fans don’t care about any other sport. They are wrestling fans and watch it 9 months out of the year and would more if it was on.
So what you're telling me is Jamie is a roughly a decade past his shelf life.
