Checking in on KU

They have a few decent years and feel like they've "arrived" then get all fussy when they regress to the mean. It's still Kansas Football, you're not Texas all of a sudden.

Such an entitled obnoxious fan base.

Just ask Adidas to buy some players for you.

I think they're a lot like ISU in good at times, not good at times.

On the other hand AZ must have gotten some things going.

They are going to be chasing that elusive 6th win again this year. 2 games left...@Iowa State and home against Utah.

You wonder if the O coordinator they lost to Penn State comes back to KU next year
You mean the one who called line plunge, line plunge, screen pass when PSU needed ONE first down to run out the clock and win the game instead of giving the ball back to Mendoza and Company for one last chance?

We’re back to the McCarney/Rhoads era, somehow winning games that we shouldn’t (but dropping turds in games that we should win handily). But, let’s give mediocrity a standing ovation.

I get so confused. Other threads are calling for CMC and/or Mouser to be fired. Expectations are KU crushes the Cyclones in 2 weeks. Yet KU fans feel similarly about their own coach. And bring back their OC from Penn State? Where I'm guessing Happy Valley fans are not happy?

ISU really is lucky to have the team, staff, and AD currently in place.

Leipold definitely deserves credit for finally dragging KU out of the hell that was the 2010's, but constantly going 3-9 at best for a decade is also not that program's historical standard and it's a bit shocking it went on for so long.

2023 is his only winning season so far and you have to wonder if he and Kotelnicki need each other. He can't beat his rivals and the fallout from the Tech tortilla toss was not a great look for him. If he keeps going with current results and 2023 increasingly looks like a bit of a fluke, is he worth keeping because he's a 5-7 coach and they used to be so much worse?

Especially when he is one of the highest paid coaches in the conference.

I may have missed it but I don't see a lot of the fire CMC crowd this year. Definitely see the fire Mouser crowd but that's nothing new. Our fans always hate the OC. We liked Scheelhause but he was only here for a year. We would have felt the same way about Mouse if he would have left after last season.

Kansas fans showed absolutely no support for their football program until he took over and had a few good years. I went to a game there and State fans outnumbered Kansas fans. No tailgating. Just dreadful. Now they lose a few and the fans are ready to abandon him. With Kansas basketball starting to go down a level and not be the team that scared everyone, Kansas sports are in a bad spot

Campbell preaches consistency about his players & staff, for which the offense as a unit has been the most inconsistent unit for too long. Special teams have finally been brought to a respectable levels (kicker injuries aside) & the defense has been consistent other than injuries, which have greatly impacted the past 2 seasons.

Our OL has seemed to finally arrive. Not the bandied "Joe Moore" worthy, but one which is capably blocking for the running game in particular. Seemed we threw to open the run early this season, but during the losses our edge passing was lost (for whatever reason - another thread), but we've been able to move it on the ground. So I feel we need to run now to pass, but not get too cute about it. If we didn't have the drops, maybe we accomplish that more easily yesterday, but I'd like nothing more than to see the Cyclones & in particular the OL come out these next two games & piss pound the opponents into submission & the offense to have close to 200 yards rushing each game.

Also, we've run that quick toss in short yardage quite a bit (& quite effectively) the last 2 seasons. Naked boot out of that was a great, tremendous call.

They might want to wait another game before firing, Leipold does well against ISU/Campbell.

I've always thought what has really held them back has actually been Jalon Daniels. He wildly bounces between super good and super bad from game to game.

KU has a bye week next week too. But despite all the nonsense that's happened to us, they may very well be in a worse mental state than us, especially after we won that game yesterday.

Hopefully we come out motivated and have a good crowd. Last home game of the year.

He’s either Michael Vick or a Hawkeye type quarterback it’s very bizarre. Sometime guys have a bad game. However, he looks like the second coming or looks like he could not start on a high school team. He always brings his best against us for some reason
