CBI...Yes or No

Yes, it is. Bowl games used to a reward for doing very well, not for making it to .500. We have enough pro sports that have playoff systems set up to allow bad teams into the playoffs. Do we really need it in CBB also? The obvious, and correct answer, is NO.
When the product is legitimate, yes. When the product is something that should die, like the CBI, then one the best place to start is to curb the idea before it gets off the ground.

Who loses from having more teams in the postseason?
The fans? Nope- they get to see their teams play one or more additional games. Win for them.
The players? Nope- They get to keep playing with each other. Win for them.
The schools? Nope- They make more money and keep fans excited. Win for them.
The networks? Nope- more games to broadcast. Win for them.
The sponsors at the arenas? Nope- more games=more exposure for their ads. Win for them.
right on! Let's just cancel our sport's teams. Why bother? Ohio State and the SouthEast conference...if they shed Ole Miss and Vandy.....should be the only schools to even have football teams. Why stop there??? We'll Have Team America Football and we'll play in a true World Super College Duper No Arguing About It Super Championship Bowl! Just like in Olympic Basketball....it will be very intriguing.
Don't you guys who parrot the "We MUST have a National Championship in College Football!!!" line from the radio sports jocks are just being played???? It is for ratings, dude. The bowl system is fine, and uniquely established. The CBI is there, it is real, it is a good spot for this team and this coach at this time.
Anybody with an ounce of pride and respect for all that is true in CBB will lose their soul if the CBI continues to stick around.
Wrong. The CBI is good for no team, anytime.
Fact: I like the bowl system also, just think there about 15 bowls that could use chopping.

Voluntarily saying no to more basketball in the definition of a rebuilding year makes absolutely no sense. It would be different if we had borderline NCAA talent and underachieved, ala '09-'10.

I can't see how they'd get to play, but if they did, I'd pay a bunch for that.
Of course, I'd pay to watch us play the Hampton scout team.
My vote--take it and run. Then run somebody over, and keep running teams over until we win the whole thing.

If they called the winner of the CBI a National Champion, that would be a problem.
Since that won't happen, it's just a fun time, and that's kind of the idea right now.
Next year, it would be kind of embarrassing. This year, it's postseason, and it's been forever.
Gotta give it to you Yoda.....you are solid in your position. LOL. Seriously.....this is probably the first time I laughed today. So much more enjoyable to debate the viablility of a basketball tourney than to turn on cable news right now.

Agree 100%. If this was in the middle of Johnny's tenure, or TF or LE then no-but I think a lot of fans and players and coaches would be thrilled with any kind of post-season since it's been 5 years. Now next year or especially 2 or 3 years down the road I would say NO and am hoping that's not even remotely a discussion that happens then.
