You really can't use the student argument, because theres probably less than 500 that showed up for the past few games. Cyclone Alley was absolutely bare. Maybe 10,000 is too high, but I don't think it would be that far away from truth.
For all y'all saying ISU will be playing for nothing, I say they'll playing for nothing but a trophy. If they win, that trophy would look very nice in the trophy case. For most FB bowl games, that's all the team's playing for is the trophy as the the costs often exceed the money gained from playing the bowl game. In this scenario, the MBB team probably would make at least some money for the Athletic Dept as $60K is not a huge target amount to exceed.
The CBI and the CIT exist because there must be actual opportunities to make more money in the post-season. A lot of good teams get over looked by the NCAA and NIT tourney selection committees. These tourneys offer these schools opportunities to reward their players for a good season even if they didn't receive an invite to the NCAA or NIT tournaments. I think it's a win-win for both the schools and the these third tier tournaments. A lot of you against participating are acting an awful lot like Jayhawk fans, but at least those fans have a championship tradition to back up their arrogance.

I can use the students, because if they purchased tickets, it counts towards the 10,000, even if they don't show up..... If students are not in town to being with, they won't purchase tickets.
At the same time, if season ticket holders go out of town over spring break (spring break in DSM is one of the most dead times of year where I work, as everybody goes on vacation), they won't buy tickets for this either.
The attendance numbers won't get the benefit of those who purchase season tickets of some form (either student or regular), but just happen to not make the game.

This! I hate the doldrums between the Big 12 Tourney and the start of football season. I find myself going to CCL games just to get my fix of Cyclone Athletics. So I would of course do this too!
Plus, I had to miss the final home game with Colorado so I would like this second chance to do it again!
