CC happens when impact is made within a very small window of time during the cardiac cycle. It's very rare because the window is so small. Just comes down to bad luck pretty much. What do you mean by timing?

From my very limited understanding of the treatment of such cardiovascular events, hypothermia treatment is being used less frequently right now after a few studies have failed to demonstrate any positive results of it. It still takes some time to recover and additional procedures (e.g., installing a pacemaker) may be needed to resolve underlying or continuing issues. So far as I'm aware, that he got professional CPR so quickly should help prevent the worst in terms of brain health.1. As others have responded, there's no indication this is Hamlin's actual doctor.
2. That's essentially what I meant.
Will do, thank you. She works weekends in CR and three nights at a hospital in Champaign, IL.Oh man you’re wife has had a rough couple years with covid, give her my best.
Where in MN are you?Things I've learned from this thread. I am 3 miles from a Level 1 trauma center.
I couldn't disagree more. Those three sitting at the desk should not have been put in that position. Kicking it over to a guy like SVP who's covered tragic type events in the past would have made a lot more sense.
I think Suzy, Booger and Adam all understood in the immediate moments after that there isn't any good way to fill in time in that moment, only bad ways unless you were extremely cautious with your words. So they just got through it.
Ryan Clark and SVP at least had a little time to coordinate and plan their discussion. Thanks in part to those other guys taking it on in the moment as awkward as it was.
Who says he was even in the studio then? He wouldn't have been on air for a few more hours.I couldn't disagree more. Those three sitting at the desk should not have been put in that position. You may get a different county also. Always ask if you have the county you are in or if you don’t know, say do I have county dispatch for cedar falls? That will help speed things up. Don’t assume when calling in a cell.A few weeks ago, I witnessed a young girl get hit by a car and it's such a terrible feeling to not be able to do anything more than comfort them, call 911, and wait. The girl ended up being alright after emergency surgery.
BTW-I learned a few things:
- 911 doesn't show up on your call history
- If you're in rural Iowa, there is a good chance that they won't know your location based on your phone. I made the wrong assumption that every 911 call would be able to pinpoint your location.
SVP would have been about three hours from being ready to go on the air normally at that point. If he was even at the studio when it happened last night, he wasn't in makeup or prepared to go on air since he normal does so at around 11 pm Iowa time after Monday night football.
ESPN did exactly what you wanted, as quickly as they probably could. This is a weird thing for people to zero in on.
Where in MN are you?
All I'm saying is that Booger and the other two looked extremely uncomfortable, ESPN could have cut away and scrolled a message. I'm not zeroing in on anything, it was an observation I made last night while watching things unfold live.
The tiering of hospitals can make it rough on ambulances. Technically we are not supposed to pass any hospital that has a tier level appropriate to what we needed and/or is higher than what we are at. We have a local county hospital close that we can go to which allows way more advanced treatment than what we can deliver going down the road. There are times that we have been forced to drive 4 hours to Omaha or 3.25 hours to Sioux Falls due to limited availability of beds.Three miles south of North Memorial right off of Theo Wirth. North is a bit closer to me than Hennepin Ctr dwntn and a clear shot up the parkway. I think there is some Twin Cities snobbiness about North not being a good hospital just because it's not in Edina which is sort of a dumb take IMHO.
I knew North was a trauma ctr, just did not think about "levels" before. Not like you don't hear about shooting and auto accident victims taken there. Had surgery there decades ago and one standout memory from that was helicopters flying in and out at all hours. NIL used to fly those as the respiratory guy out of Billings before he went back to school to be an anesthesiologist assistant. No more danger flying for him.
Nothing wrong with North at all. My fiance is at Regions. It's really interesting how traumas get sent to different hospitals in the cities and beyond. Regions actually gets a lot of flights in from western Wisconsin...of course along with any trauma in the east metro.Three miles south of North Memorial right off of Theo Wirth. And not to mention what someone else had said earlier, if ESPN put up a message or just played commercials/other content, I think a lot of people would’ve fairly assumed Hamlin had gotten worse or even passed.I would argue that professional TV people reacting as human beings in a situation like that - yes it's uncomfortable, but life is sometimes - is much better than some sterile, scrolling message.
And besides, if they'd put up a scrolling message, people would criticize them for their callous response.
That's exactly what happened to me. I called 911 and I told them I was in St. Charles. They switched counties and then I had to figure out exactly where because I had never been to St. Charles before. You may get a different county also. In high school, a bunch of us would go play tackle football at the UNI-Dome on nights the turf was open in the colder months. And in the summer months, we'd play outside on a football field. Waaaaay more breaking down than going for a big hit.I kind of agree with him. In high school a bunch of us in town formed an informal no pad tackle football league. We'd play on Saturday afternoons (after playing our normal padded High School Football the night before). What you see is more tackling and breaking down and not as much launching for a kill shot.
Accidents still happen. We had a kid break his collar bone when he layed out to catch a pass, with pads on he probably wouldn't have broke it.

That dome turf was almost like playing on a good basketball court. It was not pleasant to be tackled on that thing with no pads and no turf tape, that's for sure. That dome turf was almost like playing on a good basketball court. Not much cushion.
They went cheap with their last turf also. It’s like they got the field turf but decided to not use the rubber BBs with it.It was not pleasant to be tackled on that thing with no pads and no turf tape, that's for sure.
