Buffalo Bills Damar Hamlin

Coworkers this morning talked about AED training and knowing where the AEDs are located.
Very smart idea. The instructions for an AED are very simple but it’s a good idea to check every couple months to make sure the unit turns on and is working. Also make sure people know what to do if the guy is very hairy. There are some other things like checking a bra for an underwire but that might not fly at work

Man I hope so. This doesn't feel like a no news is good news situation.

I'm not a medical person, but I think in situations like this, they keep someone sedated for quite awhile, so no news is probably just that, no news. I would imagine "good news" at this state is typically that his condition has not changed significantly.

I had to keep current on CPR certification up until a few years ago which includes AED training. They've come a long way since the defribulators you use to see on TV with the big paddles. Thankfully never had to use the training.

I also thought Ryan Clark and SVP did a really good job. Not going all hot take and SVP repeatedly saying we are just trying to report on what we know.

I think Suzy, Booger and Adam all understood in the immediate moments after that there isn't any good way to fill in time in that moment, only bad ways unless you were extremely cautious with your words. So they just got through it.

Ryan Clark and SVP at least had a little time to coordinate and plan their discussion. Thanks in part to those other guys taking it on in the moment as awkward as it was.

Saw this tweet last night. If this is indeed his course of treatment, there simply might not be much to say for awhile.

Two quick things.
1. That post is a potential massive HIPAA violation of accurate

2. Just because the public isn’t getting news doesn’t mean the family isn’t. They will also most likely want him awake to check on brain function before making any kind of announcement.

The biggest thing for me is that he isn't going backwards and it doesn't appear that he is/has. His body went through a tremendously significant event, so it makes sense that he's being sedated for an extended period of time.

I think you're misreading that. It isn't Hamlin's doctor, just a doctor commenting on the protocol based on what is reported. Wouldn't be a HIPAA violation.

On point 1. I think you are misinterpreting what that person is saying and/or how they are involved.

Its not Damar's doctor. Its another doctor talking about the typical protocol in a situation like that. I think.

1. As others have responded, there's no indication this is Hamlin's actual doctor.

2. That's essentially what I meant.

100% misread it as Hamlin’s physician. Super sensitive to HIPAA stuff and these public cases always makes me think the worst of people.
Doesn't HIPPA pertain to anyone with knowledge of the situation, not just the overseeing doctor? Like if you read the report or was informed by the attending doctor. What I always though, but I know I was always very careful to not be the one who leaked info, or even gossip, about any runs we had.
